In a high piled storage building may the 400 ft. egress dimension be used without vents if the building is equipped with ESFR sprinklers? 910.1 Exception 2: smoke and heat vents shall not be required in areas of buildings using ESFR sprinklers. Section 1016.2: allows an increase in egress

I deal with this problem everyday here in Phoenix. Table B105.1 list the required fire flows based on total square feet of the largest building on a site. B105.2 Exception allows up to a 50% reduction in fire flow for buildings sprinklered in accordance with 903. It doesn't sound like the AHJ has

ESFR obstruction rules really suck don't they. I believe FM discounts obstructions located more than 36 inches below the deflector unless the offending obstruction is directly over the flue space of a storage rack. Hypothetical: If the duct ran through the rack at an elevation where it had

I know the requirement, I just think it needs to be refined a bit or applied with some thought given to the actual situation. A 32 round duct 12 ft down from the deck and in an aisle should not be treated the same as a 32 duct 4 ft down and over the longitudinal flue of a rack. Let us delve into

Guess we're lucky round here, if it works it's okay. Sometimes we have to calc the line between the pump and the header but it always works and is always pointless. Measure the flow at the header and pressure at the pump so friction loss doesn't matter. Ever have a diesel pump with 80 ft. of

George, I'm usually with you on your answers but not this time. Reality - Submit the COR, get the extra, install the heads in the clouds. Fire in band room, sprinklers installed in clouds fail to activate for lack of heat collection. Sprinklers at roof deck control fire until arrival of FD.
