starts near the edge of the mezzanine, the heat that would be
expected to operate control mode sprinklers if they were there will
operate ESFRs at the ceiling, as well..

Forget the ESFR's. Just sprinkler the mezzanine.

. underneath the mezzanine? You
said it was too low, what then would be the height threshold?
Thanks so much for your help.

Guess we're lucky round here, if it works it's okay. Sometimes we have to calc
the line between the pump and the header but it always works and is always
pointless. Measure the flow at the header and pressure at the pump so friction
loss doesn't matter.
Ever have a diesel pump with 80 ft. of
I have seen only one such system and coincidently it was used at nursing
home. Five or six high volume wells, each with their own pump supplied
water to very large buried vertical pipe. A vertical turbine fire pump
was installed to provide the hydrants and sprinklers. Smaller pumps were
used for
Ed, A new guy here put a sprinkler in each skylight and I challenged him
on why. He pointed to 8.6.7 and asked if they could be omitted where it
said that. Damned if I could find anything in 13.

If the baffles are 8 ft. long how wide are they?
The real question should be are only three levels of sprinklers adequate
for light hazard?

If the panels are not greater than 4ft wide I would let it go. If
sprinklers are of value beneath the 4x4 clouds then we have solved the
long standing
Granted the clouds may not allow a sprinkler to effectively extinguish a fire
below such an assembly but when did extinguishment become a requirement and
how will a sprinkler installed in a 4x4 panel prevent diversion of combustion
gasses?
We call them feel good sprinklers, they won't go off
George, I'm usually with you on your answers but not this time.
Reality - Submit the COR, get the extra, install the heads in the
clouds. Fire in band room, sprinklers installed in clouds fail to
activate for lack of heat collection. Sprinklers at roof deck control
fire until arrival of FD.
end up in court defending a system that controlled a
fire, than one that didn't.

The only thing I have ever been able to find is in the handbook 9-125
18th edition. Dry-pipe systems should only be used in areas subject to
freezing temperatures. I have had an AHJ use this as justification for
a slightly different application.
Isn't there something about insulation not being a
