For the past month or more, I have been having trouble downloading
emails with attachments. Messages with attachments as small as 1.1MB
lockup the download process and even download multiple times. Never
getting past the email backing up the message.

Compress the attachment and send it.
Upload the file to a file hosting service such as Dropbox, or image

My SeaMonkey 2.25 no longer has anything
in the text area when I try to forward, only an attachment that

Do you have a suitable handler installed ? Microsoft Word would be the
handler of choice under Microsoft Windows; no idea what the equivalent
(if any) might be for a Linux-based system.

My SeaMonkey opens the dialog box and Open with uses LibreOffice
Writer to open a .doc file for me.
Strange because I don't see a Microsoft doc file as a Content Type in
Helper Applications.
