Multiple message list tabs

2005-09-23 Thread graham foster
Anyone else noticed that if you enable message list tabs, and create (say) a
filter e.g. messages with attachments), then over time these tabs multiply and
are displayed multiple times. I haven't identified the cause yet. The only
cure seems to be the complete removal of all tabs, and stopping displaying
them (they even multiply if not on display :-)

Re: Message Tabs

Hello Stuart,

I've created a message tab. Who do I have to kill to get it to
 display?

You have to do this: View, Toolbars, Customise. Select Main menu
on the top, go into the View menu on the right, highlight e.g. Folder
tabs. Now, on the left select Mailer Forms, and look for Message list
tabs. Press that Right arrow icon.

Now, if you go out from this window and select View/ Message list
tabs, you should see your tabs.

Re: 3.61.07, Message list tab problems

2005-09-23 Thread Vili
Hello Maxim,

 [+] Tabs: d'n'd editing ability
I see the new buttons instead of the toolbar on the Options,
Preferences, Tabs pane,

BUT:

1. Right click on the tabs on the main screen: Delete or Close. What
is the difference between the two? None of them delete the item...
Choosing one of them makes the tab disappear, but they are not really
deleted, just unchecked. See the popup menu, so the fuction of
Delete/Close could have been done by just unchecking any item in the
popup menu...

I suggest that simply take that two items (Delete/Close) out from that
local menu... Deletion a tab can be done from Options, Preferences.
Somebody misclick in this local menu and will be mad... He can uncheck
any item here, if he wants, but should not be able to delete anything
permanently. But this is just IMHO...

2. Options, Preferences, Tabs pane: if you have an Unread fast
search tab there, it is impossible to delete that. Any other tab can
be deleted. This particular one cannot. If you hit Delete on it, it
disappears. But when you quit this window and go back, it still there,
unchecked.

[-] Tabs: now when selecting folder temporary aren't removed and tab doesn't
 change
It is done, working fine.

I am not sure that I understand your terminology: message view mode

Is message view mode a View Mode that you have set up?

I thought perhaps you meant the Preview Pane, which is enabled from
The Bat!/View/Message auto-view setting.

So I enabled that (it's not my preference; I normally use View Folder
as my window) and I printed just fine from it.

Also, as I reported to Maxim, I can print okay from the View Folder

AFAIK, it has never been away since at least 3.0... :( I still also

time too.

Usually though, choosing Abort all tasks in Connection Centre kills
these hanging/repeating tasks off, and then pressing Alt-F2 reconnects

But indeed, sometimes it gets so irritating that I simply kill The Bat

Btw, I know that IMAP is hard stuff, since the protocol quite honestly
seems to suck. But why do ALL other IMAP clients (e.g. Thunderbird,
Mulberry, and even Outlook!) have almost zero problems with at least
the basic operations, such as retrieving mail, browsing folders, etc?

2005-09-23 Thread Vili
Hello Dimitry,

I will check the features, one question: the size of the EXE was ca.
10.5 MB at v.05. v.06 was 11.5 MB. Now we back to 10.4 MB.
This last release was built by Maxim, the previous ones by 9Val. They
obviously use different build systems and/or settings. Maybe 9Val
builds his releases with debug symbols, while Maxim doesn't.

Wait a sec... Now this version is slower, I click on a folder and wait
for years for the messages to appera... at least this is how I feel.

Is it possible that because of the different compilation settings?

  Friday, September 23, 2005 at 21:12:59 GMT +0200

SC When invoking the mail dispatcher the progress indicator does nothing.

PM What do you mean with progress indicator?

PM I tried and started the mail dispatcher to show all mails of my lists
PM account. The display shows the number of headers already downloaded,
PM like 87 of 905 and keeps on updating. hmm

Thanks for the reply, you have given me my answer. When you dispatch
mail on server the connection center comes up with two windows. The
top window shows the activities of the accounts currently with
connections. The bottom window shows what is going on.

Because I have an IMAP account and it is always connected, the top
listed connection is always the IMAP account and the focus is on this
connection. Therefore the account I am checking is in the background,
so to speak, and I do not see the progress indicator which is in the
bottom pane.

Does anyone (meaning developers) have any ideas to address this?

OK, even if I believed this to be true, what does the progress

are actually downloading messages. Try it, Get New Mail for All. You
need to have a fair bit of mail to actually see this.

This problem has never happened in prior versions/betas with

This behavior did start with FinePrint in printing the

The new problem seems to be an extension that is a significant

Hi,

In reply to mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] :

M Hello All,

MM 3.61.07 is available at
MM http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/beta/tbb36107.rar

MM [+] Tabs: d'n'd editing ability
MM [-] Tabs: now when selecting folder temporary aren't removed and tab
doesn't change
MM [-] AV on printing
MM [-] Filters: 'Export message' action sometimes generated invalid filenames
using macros
MM [-] (#0005126) Checkboxes ate Enter key.
MM [-] Old versions of The Bat! didn't work with new THEBAT.LNG files.
MM [-] Tabs: tabs multiplication
MM [-] (#0005138) options - message format submenu disappears

[...]

the new beta still has the flaw described in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] that started with the
3.60 series.

To avoid being repetitive, here some screenshots...

Since one of the recent versions there have been choices under the
Options/Preferences/Messages/View Modes as to how changes to the
View Modes are handled. They are:
Ask Confirmation
Ignore changes
Save

If you have the checkmark beside Ignore changes it will act as you
say.

You can print from both views?

I can print both views.

We'll have to sort out the difference in your settings and mine, I
guess, if we're to help the development team solve this discrepancy.
It happens to me when I use my preferred printer (FinePrint) or
Adobe PDF. It does not happen to me if I use hard printer such as HP
   LaserJet or HP InkJet.

My printer is a Hewlett Packard Laserjet 1300.

This problem has never happened in prior versions/betas with
   FinePrint.

I am sure it is a a change in TB!'s code that has changed the way TB!
interacts with your preferred printer.

This behavior did start with FinePrint in printing the
results of searches several months ago. I've been living with that.
The new problem seems to be an extension that is a significant
inconvenience for me . . . in that it eliminates my preferred
   printer.

Yes. So it should be fixed.

Does that help to better define the current discrepancy?

I think it does. I think you should add a BT note to your issue report
at http://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5133
and put this information in.

It should be on record that this is not fixed for you in beta v.
3.61.07.

It is just so happen :))) that I am the Hungarian distributor for
Fineprint, also :)) Yeah, selling good softwares.

So, the only downside I and my users observed with FP different from
hard printers: sometimes are missing pictures from web pages. Also,
not all hard printer printed out those pages.

But: the behaviour that you describe has never happened.

I can print results of searches, etc to FP. That is my default,
also...

It has not stopped working, it just seems to work intermittently. I
don't see any real pattern. Also have pauses when selecting IMAP
accounts, sometimes, that freeze the machine completely.
