O meu gaim (agora pidgin :P ) também vivia travando, e eu usava a
versão 2 beta3. Uma solução que eu encontrei foi abrir um processo do
gaim pra MSN e outro pra Jabber, o que fez os travamentos diminuírem
em freqüência.
Mas a solução definitiva, acredito, é atualizar para o Gaim 2.0 beta6.

Aproveitando a discussão, qual é a vantagem de instalar a partir do CD ?
Porque não se faz simplesmente um 'dist-upgrade' (é assim que se escreve ?),
até estar tudo feisty, pra não precisar reconfigurar tudo ?

fazer autenticacao de usuario e senha num AD, consigo fazer no Suse
porem o ubuntu nao ajuda nem um pouco.

levaria horas para atualizar o sistema, fazendo com que seja menos
entediante formatar o PC mesmo.
