bootloader one of the options should be memtest. It will take a long time to
run. It will tell you how accurately your ram stores information. Hope your

opinion would be the ubuntu loading screen just as startup begins. If a
sentence was put under the loading bar say something like the ubuntu
live cd is loading this will not write any data to your hardrive,

LTS part of that is not changing them once they are released. Any changes to
a system has the potential to cause new bugs. If you are using ubuntu on
your personal computer I would upgrade to non LTS releases. I rather enjo

It was not fixed in hardy heron but as reported above it has been fixed
in the next release intrepid ibex (8.10) due out the 30th of october.
The only way it could get into the hardy repositories is if it was
backported which is unlikely because it is not of extremely high demand.

Yes ok that makes it all clear to me i think. Its an odd problem because
the person who put them there is using samba and can then delete them if
you gave the read/write access but you cannot because normally you would
not access the folder with samba or as root. I have a share folder much

Sorry I did not notice how old it was. Is there any point to making a
wishlist item of this issue? I don't know how to do any of the work and
unless I find somebody interested nobody else is likely to do anything for
it either.

This involves the gnome applet keyboard indicator 2.22.2 on ubuntu 8.04
is has been present through a number of ubuntu releases.
I use the standard us and dvorak layouts which show up as USA and USA2
in the applet. When I start the computer

I still think this is still an issue. A good solution would be to
display three letters that are more recognizable for the layout. Perhaps
DVK for dvorak possibly even QTY for querty.
An even better solution would be to let the user select the word or
letters displayed for each layout as it is don
I can not stress enough, in case someone from Canonical is listening,
you will never master bugs like this, if you don't have proper
information about the hardware involved!
And there is only one way to assure you have that information:
Create a tool to collect the information on the host system
