Is there any advantage to using Type-1 fonts over the other two formats,
with OSX?
It there a way to replace the problem Type-1 fonts with TTF or OTF, or use
a 99.9% similar font as a replacement font?
There's no advantage. The main catch is the company I licensed the
fonts from no longer
them? Some companies put quite a lot of effort into
profiting off other people's work in this way.

the DEB packages on Ubuntu? There is no options to limit
installed packages. The only way I have found is to use the package
manager to remove unwanted packages.

in MSVCR90.DLL, the Visual C++ 2008 runtime library. The version of that
DLL is different between my 32-bit WinXP system and the 64-bit Win7 AMD
system, which might explain why it's not failing on the Win7. It looks

Jay, you are correct. Creating a PDF from just a portion of a document
would be an enhancement to this feature. But, printing to a PDF printer
driver like CUPS-PDF, Cute PDF, etc. will provide the controls desired.

I would suggest that you join them there. Go to

The stupid Check for Updates in OOo never work correctly. Hopefully
the LibO developers have had enough sense to remove the dang thing.

when you extracted the archive. Run sudo dpkg -i *.debs . When that
