[SOGo] OT: Thunderbird in Enterprise
Hi, to all the SOgo users using Thunderbird as mail client software with the Sogo add-ons this might be of interest for you: tb-enterprise is a mailing list to discuss deployment and configuration of Thunderbird in enterprise environments. tb-enterprise is a community for mutual support for everyday tasks based on first-hand experience, and a forum for fostering better tools, documentation, options, and functionality to support Thunderbird in the enterprise. In 2012, we intend to have more of those exchanges via email, phone or any other relevant communication channel. But to do so, we need to get more decision-makers joining the debate for the Enterprise community: the number of registered members of the Enterprise Mailing list is still in the 100’ -when Enterprise represents millions of users! We need your help to get more Enterprise decision-makers joining. Help us enrolling your peers and get them signing up on the Enterprise Mailing List: Send them a mail suggesting to join https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/tb-enterprise. Next time we will need to pick up your brain or exchange about Enterprise specific topic, you will have a louder voice. We really hope that we will deliver an awesome Thunderbird in 2012. Sorry for the noise. Marc -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

You come across a lot of routers while using the internet, and this is probably alway fine. :) Is there anybody who figured out how to configure apache, so that it is possible to access SOGo from the outside? [SOGo] SOGo Connector and Davical
Hi, I just tried to use latest SOGo Connector with Davical 1.0.2 and CardDAV. I installed the add on in TB ESR 10.0.6 and created a remote address book. Did you also add the specific dns-entries? _carddavs._tcp.yourserver.com.IN SRV 0 5 443 carddav.yourserver.com. iphone - sogo carddav works (surpringsinly) flawlessly here. In the installation document I find nothing about preparing the database itself (creating tables etc.). Does SOGo do this on its own? I find update scripts for database, but no installation script. When I try to run i.e. postgres@rzhs211:~ /install/sogo/SOGo-1.3.18/Scripts/sql-update-20070724.sh Username (postgres): sogo Hostname (localhost): Database (postgres): sogo You will now be requested your password thrice... It does not work. (Tried with users sogo and postgres.) I'm surely missing something. sogo.log complains about: Aug 31 15:40:07 sogod [5092]: 0x0xbe04c8[SOGoCache] an error occurred when caching value for key 'session:sGbfC6sNsK36Sau8o++NaA==': WRITE FAILURE EXCEPTION: NSException: 0xd708c8 NAME:NSInvalidArgumentException REASON:NGLdapEntry(instance) does not recognize asDictionary INFO:(null) Marc -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

[SOGo] Calendar Color / Deleting a Calendar in Thunderbird

[SOGo] installing SOGo extension outside the profile

[SOGo] Order of Extension Installation
Hi, this is somehow related to bug 1977 http://sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1977. If sogo-connector is installed first and sogo-integrator is second, all works fine. If sogo-integrator is installed first and sogo-connector is second, deletion of a calendar i.e. is not send to the server. (like in bug 1977) We like to install our extension globally, so we put them in program default directory (outside the profile). In this case we have no influence in what order the extensions are installed. With a blank profile this is always wrong for the two sogo extensions. Is there any way to influence the order of extension installations? This is not alphabetically by the file name. The order of the installation is reflected to extension.sqlite. If we delete sogo-integrator restart TB and install it again, it gets a higher ID in extension.sqlite and all is fine. Marc -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

What do you mean by active? If you want to store the information if someone is a SOGo user or not, you have to set an attribute accordingly and include this in your LDAP filter in SOGo conf. You can set password expiration i.e. in openldap by the password policy overlay. But I'm not sure if SOGo honors this. In general SOGo does an LDAP bind with the credentials entered by the user which the LDAP server handles itself. Is it the same validation with the Webmail and Thunderbird ? There is documentation about this ? If you are connecting to the SOGo services (SOGo Web GUI, CalDAV, CardDAV vie Thunderbird/iPhone/etc.), SOGo uses the configured authentication backend. If you are connecting to other services - like your IMAP server - it uses the there configured authentication backends. In most case this should be the same. Does this answer your questions? Hi, Am 11.08.2015 um 11:12 Uhr schrieb Armand Zangué: I did an installation of SOGo on a debian 8 machine couple weeks ago and it looked very promising; I was able to create, subscribe and manage my calenders from the browser. Then I installed the integrator and connector add-ons for Thunderbird. Prior installation I changed the integrator add-on according to the provided documentation and installed Lightning. After configuring and restarting Thunderbird (TB) I was expecting all calenders I subscribed to from the web end previously to automatically show up in my calender list in TB. Instead only my personal calenders did show up, so I needed to subscribe to the other calendars once again in TB. Plus if I create an Event in a calender from the web client it won't show up in TB even after reload (the other way around works fine). Also when I create an event in TB, I cannot edit it later on (I can just view it). Anything else works just fine for me. So I'm wondering whether is the way it's supposed to work or whether I might have some config issues with my installation. No, it is not supposed to be that way. Please check your config. If you reset your TB profile, are all the SOGo as expected (all subscribed calendars available etc.)? We had similar issues before, check Added Event in TB does not display immediately in the archive. Our problem was: UIDFieldName was wrong. It did not match the bindfield used by TB. If yes, there where several bugs with the display of those in the webinterface. You need at least SOGo version 2.3.1 in order to fix them. Thanks for the hint. We are still on 2.2.17a. Re: [SOGo] Using SOGo
Ana, Am 23.07.2015 um 14:33 Uhr schrieb Ana Sustič: I am testing the shared Address Book in Sogo demo from Thunderbird. It syncronises fine for Address books with public access. OK. How do you configure Thunderbird to connect to a shared Address book in Sogo with access rights for Authenticated users. Currently Thunderbird always reverts to the first configured account in Thunderbird when I synchronise the remote Address Book. I'm not really sure, what you're talking about. Yes, in TB SOGo always uses the user of the fist account to connect to the server. You can only log in once with TB, so this should be your personal account. If you want to access other one's address books, you need rights on these. In question log in with the web GUI (as the other user) give rights to your personal user und add the other one's address book to your profile (this functionality is added by the SOGo integrator add-on to TB). Does this help you? Marc -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
Re: [SOGo] Appointment Mails - double or nothing?
Christian, Am 16.07.2015 um 13:38 Uhr schrieb Christian Mack: Sorry for the late answer No worries. :) If you want invitations per email, you have to set SOGoAppointmentSendEMailNotifications = YES that's what we did. Thunderbird/Lightning does not always ask this Outlook compatible invitation question. If it does, you should always deny that. That is especially important, as these invitation emails send from Thunderbird/Lightning are utterly broken (even the developers say so!). Therefore they can break your invitation completely. This is known, and they should be disabled by default on new installations. I second that! I also have users with that problem. There was a setting in older versions of Thunderbird, to disable these completely. This setting is no longer there. Perhaps there is a setting in about:config to do so, but I do not know it. If you find, how to disable these, please give us feedback. I will. Does anyone else know, how to disable this in Lightning? Marc -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

So we have to deal with that. It's multivalued in *a* standard schema. SOGo also has to work with single-valued ActiveDirectory setups, which are anything but rare. Is there another internet standard definition other than: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4524#section-2.16 I hope we agree on Active Directory is not LDAP, but like LDAP. (UCS did do the same thing too even back when they were using Kolab/OpenLDAP, FYI. And probably others.) Other vendor specific implementation which mirror the Microsoft specific AD implementation are a thing to deal with too, right. So *if* we get multi-value support in SOGo/Thunderbird (good luck getting anything done in Thunderbird…), The LDAP feature in Thunderbird are a thing of its own … :( we'd need to be able to configure a secondary, multi-valued email attribute. Make it default to `mail` so it'll work with OpenLDAP if you want, but that'd allow compatibility with AD, too. and another attribute for the alias (alias, proxyaddress) a name something like that in your transport configuration in postfix you have to make your LDAP filter to search for the mail in mail attribute or to alias attribute. Which is a two-line change, FYI. Which is a two-line configuration change in postfix. IMHO this seems a bit like: "Here this solves this problem. Oh, I does create others? Not my problem." Why, yes, if you modify the LDAP scheme, you'll have to make sure your programs understand the scheme. What surprising news. Which brings me back to my starting point: if the LDAP is the core directory of a complex infrastructure you have a lot of programs to change. Marc -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

And I hope this will last some time or I have to search for an alternative... you can - as stated in this thread - offer both V2 GUI and V3 GUI and let the users choose (if it is not a support issue). What were advantages / disadvantages? as said by others: - great integration in Thunderbird (hope this will stay with us …) - integration in our existing infrastructure -- stay with your IMAP server (other than Zarafa) -- stay with your SMTP server -- only little change in our LDAP objects was needed Documentation is far better than i.e. at openXchange, where we were not able to install and integrate a test server in our environment. With Thunderbird as our mail client for Linux and Windows new users only need to type mail address and passwort - thanks to automx! - restart Thunderd and type password for SOGo again and they are ready to use mail and calendar.
