I believe the all mail is just in the mail app, not on the PC.
All mail, means just that, all of your mail.
In outlook on the PC, each account has its own folder and within those
accounts, the deleted items have their own folder, etc.

Hi Richard and Sandy,
I just had a look at this and this doesn't work for me, either. I had it set
to 2 lines, then I went and changed it to 5 lines and I tried what you said,
Richard, and flicked away and back to a message and I am completely keeping
my fingers off the screen for a long time
Answers in context of your questions:

e-mail messages. Yet, under Preview I have the choice for 2 lines
selected I have Hints enabled and am holding my finger on the message long
enough to hear the hint, slide up or down

Just to add to Richard's and Jeff's answers, the 3-finger pull down to

1) Don't leave your finger on the message in the list. I usually get it to work
when I use a right or left flick. It does not work when I delete a message.
2) Archive has to do with whether or not your messages are flagged for saving
on the server or moved to trash. Notes is for backing notes
