For walking around, I prefer the bone conduction headphones like the OpenMove
from Shokz or the Bose Frames. There's nothing in your ears at all. I like to
use transparency mode when I'm around the house and still need to hear what's
going on around me and where I want some better sound quality

I have never used bone conduction headphones or ones like the Airpods that have
a transparent mode. What are the advantages of each type when using a GPS app
to get around a city?

They are an okay set of headphones. I have them. When you are
looking at noise canceling headphones, it really comes down to price.
I recently picked up a set of anker space q45 headphones. They were
originally $150 and I got them on sale for $100 which I think is a
pretty good deal. Good luck

I have the phone set to announce incoming caller.

AirPods 3. gen.
I suspect VoiceOver speaks caller ID regardless of that setting since
the screen activates
