First off, newer phones don’t have a sim tray. My SE has a very small hole on
the left side to eject the sim card.
There are time when a sim card can get corrupted and need replacing. And often
the diagnostic codes sent to the phone will disconnect the network

Just use a paper clip to open the sim tray.
