Hello all:
For what this is worth, this is just a review of the ESpeak TTS on IOS. (As
with all betas, this is a work in progress.) I wanted to share my experiences,
simply to spread awareness with the group on what does and doesn't work as yet
with the multilingual, yet no-footprint voices.

How do you get an emoji on a Text Message reply or in a Text Message?

Hi all,
I know this was covered on one of the lists recently but I was not needing the
information then!

don’t follow what I read.
Apparently I need to get to the end of the number then press the Star key and
this

Hello,
Suddenly today; my husband is not getting notifications on his iPhone. I get
many of the same notifications and am getting them.
Do not disturb is off and each of the apps that he gets notifications from
shows that they are still turned on.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Katriona, A couple of weeks ago, I made the same upgrade as you and can identify with your frustrations. First thing I did was set "home" as the macro for a double tap on the back of the phone. When I am in the control centre, especially by mistake, I find that I can get out by a scrub
I recently upgraded from an iPhone 8 to the 13 pro max and I don't
miss the home button one bit. I have very little trouble going from
home to app switcher. One thing that helped me get a hang of the home
button gesture, is don't press your finger so hard on the screen when
doing the gesture.
Two things: I just do Scrub to get out of stuff, don't bother with trying to
flick back to
Back Button.
Another thing, you can go to Control Center and Notification Center the old
way, if you prefer that.

Hello,
The only thing I would add to these excellent instructions is that sometimes
there is more of a delay between the time to call K'NEX and the part of the
menu comes on that except touchstone entry. In some cases I've had to enter two
or three commas between the phone number and the next
I heard about it and I wondered if it was more convenient than the one I have,
the Keys to Go keyboard.
I don’t have to charge the battery and to turn it on and off.
I’m not sure if I will buy it or not, so I will keep the info someone sent.

I would like to get smiley face with sunglasses. I'll keep this and study this
to see if I can figure out how to do that, thanks.

Hello All,
I replaced my iPhone 8 yesterday with a 14 Pro 256 and IOS 16 iPhone.1.
Although I am managing to deal with no home button, it certainly isn’t easy
yet. Although I will probably have additional questions in the future, for
now, I would appreciate any answers or thoughts about the
To add extension to contact:
1. Press Edit in upper right corner of the contact you want to add extension.
2. Flick to phone number.
3. Double tap to get the cursor at the end.
4, type a comma right after the phone number (Shift on 7).
5. Type extension.
6. Press Done at the top right.
That's
Amen to that, Joshua, don't press, just flick.

I probably am older than just about everyone on the list. But, Rita Howells had
a great tutorial on the phones without buttons, so that when I got mine, I
never looked back, never had a problem, and would not go back to a Home Button
now.
One thing about the flicking, say up one from the

this should be the emoji keyboard.

Thanks Joshua for the tip about not pressing too hard; it appears I may have
been a bit heavy handed, so I'm trying to do better in that regard. As I wrote
in my reply to Sandy, things are getting some easier, and the scrub gesture
helps so much. It may take me and my old/tired hands a minute
Hi Sandy,
I feel so silly for not thinking about the scrub gesture to get out of the App
Switcher, Control Center, etc. I even used the scrub gesture a time or two
today for other things…it just didn’t enter my mind that this could be a
solution for some of my issues today. Thank you so
I agree it takes some practice and getting used to, but I never found that
pressure made any difference, unless of course too much pressure kept the
gesture from being smooth or too little pressure meant it didn't register.

Christopher, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I've got kind of
a heavy hand when it comes to pressing on things. Maybe it comes from
my guitar playing.

It does take a bit of practice. Your touch can't be completely light
with no pressure at all, but just a very small amount of pressure. To
much pressure deffinately does not work. I never did figure out how
to do the scrub gesture.

As Carolyn says, you want to double tap on the shift key, which is in the lower
left hand corner just below the 7 key. Now the 7 key will become the comma and
the 9 key will become the semicolon.

Katrina. Here's a tip about using the gestures to get to the control
center. Go to the top of your phone where you feel kind of a straight
line and kind of an indentation on the phone. This is your speaker
grill for your earpiece speaker. If you slide your finger down from
this point, you
Silly question perhaps, but out of curiosity, other than asking Siri to access

No. I do apologize Katrina for giving you misinformation about the
gestures. Besides doing the gestures for control center and
notifications, or Siri, those are the only ways that I know of. I've

Thanks Carolyn. I'm not familiar with Rita Howells tutorial; can you tell me
more about that? I should see if NBP has a publication that might help. I
bought a publication, written by Anna Dresner and Dean Martineau, back when I
got my first iPhone; it was a huge help.
Hopefully one day I
