Thanks Joshua for the tip about not pressing too hard; it appears I may have been a bit heavy handed, so I'm trying to do better in that regard. As I wrote in my reply to Sandy, things are getting some easier, and the scrub gesture helps so much. It may take me and my old/tired hands a minute to get there, but I look forward to having the skill you have with the phone.

I have very little trouble going from home to app switcher. One thing that helped me get a hang of the home button gesture, is don't press your finger so hard on the screen when doing the gesture. Give the screen a very light touch with just a little bit of pressure. If you press very hard on the screen all you'll do is be sliding your finger around on the screen. I mostly use a braille bluetooth keyboard called the Hable One so I don't have any trouble backing out of menus. However, even if I'm not using my keyboard, I can back out of menus just fine with no issues.
