My understanding is that if you switch to a different app, the first one
will keep downloading for 15 minutes, then be stopped even if the download
isn't complete. So if you're quite sure the download will finish in 15
minutes or less, you can switch apps and not return to the first

Yes, you can have as many as you want, well, I guess having 10 may not be
practical and if you had them all set to Push it would use up a lot of
battery. Anyhow, I have both my business email and my one personal Hotmail
account set up, you can either see all emails in the All Inboxes
on the iPhone and then select the account who's mail you want
to handle. Once you select the account, you should see a list of the mail
boxes in that account, including the in box.

Vizwiz already does this. You take a photo record a question and it uploads
to a server and volunteers send answers back.
This is just my humble opinion, but if you skype or facetime a person just
to get the answer to a question like what can is this or the expiary date
etc, using vizwiz or even
the jaws cursor.

off? Can one turn them off? I know it all sounds rather simple but I've never
had a pair of bluetooth earphones, and I'm researching them with a view to
getting a pair.

The 5 finger pinch has to be enabled in settings/accessibility/voiceover. There
is also a 4 finger swipe there which you may find useful on the iPad.
