If those lost apps were good back in the old IOS 10.3.3 timeline, then a person
updated to IOS 11 ETC, then those lost apps might not have been compatible with
the new IOS?

This is how I do it too. When I two finger double tap to answer an incoming
phone call, and I want to answer it on speaker phone, I then hold my hand over
the face of the phone for a split second, and I'm in speaker phone mode.
