Hi Neil,
The RØDE app you linked to is not new. RØDE Microphones have been using an app
patterned on the FiRe 2 app since December of last year, which may also explain
their interest in purchasing the rights to FiRe 2 from Audiofile Engineering.
The rather unflattering descriptions I have
Esther, thanks for all this. It is very helpful. I do have one question
however. I do still have the last version of Fire 2, but when I open it,
that is when VoiceOver stops. Does yours work until you start a recording?

As you may recall, I sent a message to the list some time ago about the fact
that Rode had purchased the Fire 2 recorder. Well, here it is. I guess it's
not an update to fire 2 and I think you have to purchase it all over again,
but I'm not sure. All I know, is that I have not gotten an update
the latest word on FiRE 2? Does it work? I
bought the app and kept it up to date, but I haven't had a chance to really
test-drive it yet, so I'm curious.

Subject: Voice Memos and FiRe 2
Hi,
I used the Voice Memos app to record segments of a concert at my local park
yesterday and, all
doing that? Will ITunes
let me transfer the voice memos. If I try to e-mail them to myself, I'm told
that the recordings are too large, but I don't want to send shortened versions.
Any tips here?
Veering off a little here, what's the latest word on FiRE 2? Does it work? I

I just got this from the developer.
I had ask when the upade that would fix the voiceover problems would be out.
Their answer follows.
“It will be available in RØDE Rec 2.8. As you might have heard, RØDE
Microphones acquired FiRe a couple of weeks ago. We imagine version 2.8 will
ship late

Hi Neal, Brent, Cokes, and Others who asked about FiRe 2,
Neal's correct that earlier versions of FiRe 2 from January at the beginning of
this year, up to the last version (released May 28, 2013), worked with
VoiceOver. The FiRe 2 app got purchased by RØDE microphones, who will be

Hi, I wrote to this list when the last update of this app was released to

Well Esther, you have just upped the count on the Fire 2 post by a couple.
One is me thanking you for all the knowledge that you spread on this list.
And now I need to post some update information I learned today
of threads that discuss FiRe 2, because the
originating post doesn't mention FiRe. But if you read through the
subject link results of a search for posts that Neal made on FiRe, and
compared them with the subject link titles of posts on FiRe that began
threads, you'd have picked this one up. You'd also have

I've not come across the various settings for

be highpass lowpass etc which may be worth experimenting with.

Hi Fanus,
To change the button action so you can record by double tapping the
Record button instead of sliding it to the right (which you'd have to
do with VoiceOver turned off) in FiRe 2, go to Settings (4th of 5
tabs on the bottom), double tap, then flick right to Transport and
