Dear Robin & List:
If you want too reboot the phone after an IOS update and find it is still
working strangely, go to settings general, select reset at the bottom of the
IOS upgrade. You may lose network
passwords; however it is worth it to have to re-input them.

Dear Robin & List:
If the phone has a home button, press home & power for seven seconds, this
reboots the phone.
If no home button, press volume down button & power for seven seconds, this
reboots the phone.
I find Iphones often give a brief shake when rebooting. This confirms they are

I think it's wrong here to try and completely compare this to
Windows. As I said, most desktops used to have a reset button which
would force a restart if something crashed and you could not go to

restart method seems to do better.
Aside from all that, I think Robin only asked how to perform the restart.

I'm not sure you can do a straight restart in iOS, at least I haven't been able
to find it yet. You can do a hard reset, which I think restarts
ess and hold the power button for fifteen to thirty seconds.
And it is hit or miss getting it to work.
