I find it mostly consistent. The sleep focus issue is similar to what happens
to voiceover on the phone or wherever if Zoom is also on. A couple gestures

gathered that there were some bugs with version 10.
I use Taptic Time frequently, and pretty consistently. I also have Sleep Focus
enabled, but in my case this does not alter the number of taps required

The ultra is one sexy watch. I have tried it on a few times, and to me
isn't not that big of a jump from the 44 or 45. Everyone one is
different though.

I'd also suggest using taptic time as well. I'd recommend practicing with it
before just trying to use it in the middle of the night. As Nicola says it
takes a certain knack to get it to work reliably.

The taptic time is working pretty reliably for me on my Apple Watch Series 7,
thank goodness. I find that it helps to do the double tap gesture slightly more
slowly than normal, i.e. leaving a slightly longer gap between the first and
second tap, but not long enough for it to be interpreted
Sorry, just realized you said in the subject line it's an Apple Watch so
obviously plugging in a headset isn't an option.
Once again, setting the volume low enough is what I do, but my wife also sleeps
through almost anything so not too hard to do.
I wish the haptic time feedback was reliable
