Kev, You could try setting up a new managed user account in Users with Parental Controls set to limit access to applications, deletions and reconfigurations etc, then make this the default account for restarts and login. You would need to explore and tweak the options to match his needs.

The next G3 tower I have set up with OSX and OS9 won't restart in OSX. From OSX, I went to System Preferences Startup Disk and restarted in OS9, but when I go to Startup Disk in nine it gives me only two choices; Hard drive or Network Disk and with either selected the Mac reboots in OS9.
