I've just done the 3 steps this morning, and now I have no contracts

I've turned it off/on a couple of times , including changing the sync

Hi Graeme,
To sum up what we found - together with a couple of thoughts I've had since:

Hi Graeme,
Glad to hear you finally got it working
A USB was not enabled and all is now fine
I assume you mean that a USB controller on the VM was not enabled -that is
interesting - Does this mean that you now have the printer connected as a
USB device, rather than as a Bonjour printer or as
Hi Neil
It is now very interesting that you raise this as after the fix I could print
in Windows but could not print in Apple until I had closed Windows down
I had not expected that.
I guess it is not really a problem as generally I will only be in Windows when
doing some MYOB work

I have noticed what I believe is a bug in Entourage (Office 2008). I
have a Macbook 13 1 month old so running Snow Leopard. I also have a
Time Capsule. When the hourly backup is running AND at the same time I
attempt to Attach a file to an email I am preparing, it all hangs up
solid.
I had similar problems with Entourage hanging after waking from sleep. I had
several other problems which caused me to re-install the OS 10.6 software
and the problem has now gone. However it hangs for a short time while Time
Machine is backing up.
But as a precaution I now close Entourage before

I have run Repair Permissions again today and the log appears identical to

Interesting. I have Word and Excel from Office 2008 always running
but have no problems with hourly Time Machine backups (Leopard). I do
not use Entourage at all.

Hi Wamuggers
I would like to update my table lamp iMac possibly to a MacMini.
Can I run the Mini using the old table lamp PPC G4 IMac? If not has
anyone recommendations for a reasonably priced display, say about

Hi John,
Do you mean to use the iMac as a monitor? Sorry but this isn't possible.
A 22 Samsung monitor is around 220 dollars these days.

Hi Gavin
I did mean to use the iMac as the monitor but the Samsung is cheap
enough.
Thanks for your help (I was surprised that there were other Wamuggers
still awake)

I use a previous version of DiskWarrior on G3s and G4s I am
refurbishing. It is a bit frustrating when it doesn't tell you
what it is looking at like other programs. When I crank up a
refurbished machine after fitting a new PRAM battery often I get no

Yes, Entourage is left running all day for the usual email
correspondence that we all use, so quitting Entourage (and all other
Microsoft apps) is not really practical - the back up starts whenever it
likes to and maybe I could extend that to daily backups - timed to occur
at 2AM - is that

Hi Peter,
You can use Terminal to change the default time etc that TM backups.
If you don't wish to use a shell prompt using Terminal, there are a
couple of software that look like they would do the job.

A very simple solution - ditch Entourage and use Mail.

The single fact that makes me recommend my clients not to use Entourage is that
it keeps all it's data (mail, contacts, calendars) in a single monolithic data

If you get a lot of email this file will quickly grow to multiple gigabytes. If

Hi James
I have had a similar problem in that I have not received (random)

is that Ozemail is owned by iinet and therein lies the problem.
There is reference to iinet in the message below. iinet have been

Yes, if you remember when we talked I said there were basically three ways
you could set up your printer, the Parallels manual probably explains this
better than I did:
There are three basic ways to set up printing in a virtual machine. You can:

Hi Peter,
That is interesting. I didn't think you needed USB activated on the VM to
use the VM printer port (or a Bonjour printer). From your description, it
sounds like you added the printer as a USB printer directly connected to the
virtual machine.
I've never tried that but I understood that

Hi Peter and others using Entourage,
Is anyone who uses Entourage, backing up Entourage using Time Machine?
If so have they been checking their Entourage backups to see if there is any

Why I ask is I have always understood the main issue with Time Machine and the

Regarding the increasing disk space, it¹s not quite as bad as it seems.
After 24hrs, TM will be deleting the hourly backups at the same rate that
it¹s creating new ones, except for the increase in size of the Entourage DB
over that 24 hrs. After a month, the daily backups will be deleted, keeping
