Regarding the increasing disk space, it¹s not quite as bad as it seems. After 24hrs, TM will be deleting the hourly backups at the same rate that it¹s creating new ones, except for the increase in size of the Entourage DB over that 24 hrs. After a month, the daily backups will be deleted, keeping only weekly backups, so the overall size of the TM backup will only increase by the amount of increase in individual emails, etc in Entourage (in the simplest case where Entourage is the only contributor to disk space).
In other words, TM is not adding the Entourage DB every hour indefinitely, just for the last 24 hrs. However, I agree that there is a problem of the single monolithic file, and the transfer of Entourage DB data on the network every hour although it doesn¹t take more than about 2 mins for my 2GB of changed data (over gigabit ethernet).
