Do you have an anti-virus installed? Firewalling is all well and good,
but it only defends against attacks from the outside.
It sounds to me like you have a virus.

http://www.overclockers.com/tips00140/ might describe your failure if
it's several years old. Or, maybe your power supply was marginal to

I have seen similar problems that were created by

Hi Scott,
That's what I thought - so far the only targets are Firefox and IE. I've

I've now run 2 spyware and 1 adware on it and cleaned out what was

Deb,
on my recent install of ZoneAlarm a couple of days ago I had to uncheck the
protect ZoneAlarm Client
I also did an update of ZA recently and they recommended a clean
install. I decided that I had customized it pretty well and didn't want
to go through that again so I did an upgrade instead of a clean install
- do you think that might be the problem?

Hi Riva,
I'm leaning towards the problem being Zone Alarm - clean install might be
it. I never had a problem before using just the update. See my last post
responding to Mike E. More info there. There might be a glitch in the
clean install or the update itself this time around.

Well, maybe it really is the ZA in my case. I was just able to open my
browser using Mark's link w/o a problem where before would put me into reboot.
Oh boy - talk about scary - I was playing a game I downloaded and a
message appeared across the screen You are lucky that I don't just
reboot! Gonna do a virus scan NOW.
