I am looking for multiradio wifi units that handle well in environments with high floor noise levels, particularly in city areas where the unlicensed band is very congested. Any suggestions? WISPA Wants You! Join

[WISPA] using street level and below tree canopy for unlicensed bands

2008-06-11 Thread Rogelio
I was talking to some people today who deploy wireless networks in very noise environments, and some of them were talking about deploying radios under the building or tree line in an attempt to get less nodes. One person said that this practice is common in places like NYC where the street leve

I suppose one way to tell would be to just poll the MIBs of the units in question with Cacti. (I haven't done this yet, but it works on other networking equipment) WISPA Wants You! Join today! http://signup.wispa.o

[WISPA] Atheros 11n-ish radios with 35 Mbps pt-to-pt capacity

I was reading about the Atheros chipset in some newer vendor radios that have included some 11n functionality, and I hear 35 Mbps pt-to-pt numbers being thrown around (as opposed to 20-25 Mbps that we saw on previous versions of 11a/11g). Has anyone here seen this in action or have any comments

Has anyone here played with NASA's WorldWind? http://wiki.socalwifi.net I tried to get it going yesterday, but my video card wouldn't take it. I'm thinking that perhaps this would be a good compliment to Google Earth and MS Liv Maps for assessing wifi coverage in certain areas. (Any other Googl

[WISPA] RSTP question on wifi mesh units
