First of all, it's pretty simple to get the shift knob off. Just take the
assembly out, with the shift knob and shift stick. Wrap the shift knob with
a towel. Roll a car over the knob. Then stick a screwdriver in the t-bar
hole at the bottom and twist. It pops right off. Your version of a cut
shifter, is not a short throw. The biggest thing about the short shifters
is the shorter throw, not the height. The height is just cosmetic. The
ones for our cars only make the height about an inch shorter. Why does
everyone think the short shifter gives you gear grind? Where the hell is
that from? The short shifter changes the fulcrum of the shifter, how the
hell can that cause tranny problems?
