Hi Bruce,

I've been following the sharpos-board list. It is an unfortunate situation
that the discussion William has started accidentally by sending the mail to
the public mailing list instead of the boards isn't followed on publically.
My election call came as a result of various calls for coordination. I'm not
at all trying to pull you from your seats - you could as well have nominated
yourself. Anyways as this discussion apparently is not welcomed by the
current members of the board I'm pulling out. I think it speaks for itself
that there are people on the project trying to move forward, but we're
always circulating around certain points and that there's no guidance since
quite some time.

The issues I have with the current situation do not have anything to do with
the board itself, its current members or their status. I just see several
facts, which I think are troubling:

- SharpOS Bot hasn't run since May 7th. That's more than two months ago.
Anything valuable that may have been discussed during this time is not
available to the general community.
- If any discussions are made or decisions are reached in private
conversations in the channel, there's no follow up either in Mail or in the
Wiki
- There's been a lack of project architecture/design evolution since about
the time I started
- There's no guidance whatsoever - communication turnaround is rather slow
- There has only been 5 commits on the trunk in May and Juni vs. 39 in April
- The sharpos-board mailing list has not had a single valuable mail in May
or June (well except for sanders request to restart the website...)
- The sharpos-board mailing list has only woken up due to the mail William
accidentally sent to the general list.

My point is if someone doesn't have time to contribute - it's fine. But
personal situations, other projects and commitments should not harm a
project in general.

Mike

P.S.: No I'm not interested in Board Membership. I just wanted to provide at
least a bit of guidance as was wished in some mails. I'm sorry that I was
rocking your chairs.

GovernanceBoard

Just don't forget - as inactive as individual board members (myself
included) may have been - the existing board is not defunct, and certainly
not ready to be so hastily replaced.

Due to the logistics of project "membership", a general election, I think,
just isn't feasible, because it involves debating who gets to vote and who
doesn't. And frankly, there are not enough current contributors (based on
the SVN logs and mailing list, which I still keep track of both), to even
suggest a full-blown board replacement.

I am, however, personally amenable to adding 1, maybe 2 people to the board.
But I don't think more than 2 (and only because there has only been visibly
2-4 developers, total, active in the last 6 months), is reasonable.

Regardless, procedures and rules for amending or replacing the board, are up
to the current board. As it stands right now, we are still discussing some
of the broader points of your election proposal, and we will attempt to
refine it into something that can both further current development, and
still represent some of us who pulled hard time here, only just months ago.

So be patient, and feel free to get involved in the discussion. The fact
that there even is a discussion, makes the SharpOS revolution a bit of
overkill... so bear with us please.
