It could be the mouse, or the cabling from the mouse to the port or the port itself. Try plugging the mouse directly into the ADB port. If that doesn't work, try the other port. If it still doesn't work, try a different mouse and repeat. If it continues to not work, then you probably have a fried CUDA chip (CUDA controls ADB). This chip is behind PCI slot 5 and is marked 341S0788. They can be salvaged off of 6100/7100/8100 or 7200 boards and replaced if you're handy at soldering. What system disk are you using again. The folks here have had many different experiences, but I usually find that if there are no bootable drives available and there is a bootable CD in the CDROM drive, the machine eventually finds it and boots up. But I think I immediately replaced the Matshita drive with a Toshiba 12X, so maybe when you have the original CDROM in there it just won't work. Most other CDROM drives do seem to work okay with most any bootable CD. A fired CUDA chip shouldn't interfere with booting if there's an OS available. It'll just make it so that you can't supply any input of any kind. But as I mentioned, maybe with the stock CDROM drive, the bootable CD isn't available to the machine.
