First, any "combo card" such as Firewire/USB will have to run in one of the top two PCI slots. They don't work in the lower 4 slots of the S900. Second, USB2 doesn't come into play until Jaguar or Panther? It'll act like a USB1.1 card in OS9. I use a generic Firewire PCI card in slot 4 of my S900 and it works well with my Lexar Firewire CF Cardreader. No seperate AC adapter is needed for a cardreader. Paul C.

Hello

I'm looking to get a firewire/usb PCI card for my Umax S900 to be used with
a firewire bus powered CF card reader.

Can anyone recommend a compatible & reliable PCI card which can supply
power to the firewire ports?

What about the LaCie USB 2.0 & FireWire PCI Card? Does anyone have
experience with it?

By the way, is it safe & reliable to use firewire bus powered devices on
the Umax S900 so equipped? Would it be better to find a firewire CF card
reader which had an separate AC power adapter option?

Another question just came to mind, would I be able to make use of USB2
with Mac OS 9.1 on Umax S900?

Thanks,

Anthony
