Hello all, thanks for your replies. I actually went out and bought a LaCie Firewire/USB "combo card" but have yet to install it nor open the package yet. I guess I should of waited for your responses as I may now have a potential card placement issue which I was unaware of.

They don't work in the lower 4 slots of the S900. My Umax S900/200 has a Sonnet Tempo Ultra ATA66 PCI card and the original IMS Twin Turbo 128M card installed. In addition, I have a Sonnet 400Mhz G3 card (whether or not it is of significance in regards to issue). I found I needed to put my Tempo Ultra card in one of the top two slots, namely the second. While topmost slot has the Twin Turbo card I can't recall why it's in that particular spot. Does anyone know if the Twin Turbo card can be moved to one of the bottom 4 slots? >Second, USB2 doesn't come into play until Jaguar or Panther? It'll act >like a USB1.1 card in OS9. The dealer whom I purchased the firewire card from said he's had a customer who experienced "smoke" when they plugged in a firewire bus powered device and was reluctant to recommend the use of such devices.
