The "naughties" seems to be the correct term. :)
When I first heard it, it was said by a flamboyant person so I
thought he was being silly, then I relised: 9-ies, 0-ies - 0 is naught
BTW Its 00,01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09. 10 would be in the "ten's" or
"teens".

20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20
Are there 20 or 21? There are 21. Its like comparing an apple to a
bag of apples. [quality vs quantity if you will]
FWIW,
The century is named after its last year. thus the 19th century
finished on 1900. The 20th century will finish on 31 Dec 2000.
But as said elsewhere it doesn't really matter a great deal. If the
calendar really did start with Jesus's birth Christmas would be
celebrated at the same time as new years (instead of a week apart)
[I've heard his actual birth anywhere between 10BCE and 10CE so this
year is therefore meaningless in that respect]

confirms. (I found this cartoon between typing this reply and
sending it...)
I am going to try to organise a party on 9/9/2001 (at 1:46:40am GMT)
when it will be 1,000,000,000 seconds since unix began counting.
One billion is bigger than two thousand. <G>
