Depending on your price range a portable MiniDisc recorder is, most of the
time, a better option than MP3. Sure, it's mechanical, but they sound a lot
better. (I was in the position a few months back to buy either a minidisc
or a MP3 player - the MP3s around at the time were useless in terms of
quality and entertainment).
