We've known for years, and it was never kept secret, that they were a corrupt organization and their choices for Golden Globes had little to do with merit. Yet they continued to flourish and the entertainment media, reporters, and interviewers treated the Globes as fairly won awards. The HFPA was consistently rewarded for bad behavior and it seemed that there would be no incentive for them to change. The current leadership has nothing to personally gain and a lot to lose by enacting the reforms to the organization.
