Came this utterance formulated by Larry Gusaas to my mailbox:
This list should be like a normal list and require people to subscribe
before postling.
It serves as a support mailing address for total newbies through to
experts that want to ask questions. If you insist that the newbies learn
how to use a mailing list before they can post a question, they will be
less likely to ask their question. It works.
No, it does not work. This sub-thread started because someone replied to
a non-subscribed poster and did not cc him. People giving help have to
jump through too many hoops to determine if a poster is subscribed to
the list. At the very least, the list should be set up so that the
address of non-subscribed posters is included in the reply-to header.
Those that don't like it and know better do have other alternatives.
I usually provide support on the OpenOffice.org Community Forum. I don't
have to waste time finding out if a person is subscribed or not.

b. Use the forum: http://www.oooforum.org/
or http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/index.php
I'm not telling you to get lost if you don't like it. Please just
understand why it is this way.
And there are things that need to be changed!
