That is a training issue. Those volunteering to assist here cannot
expect to do so without some training. One need only lurk on the list
for a month and that training will be given. 

It also serves a purpose. Many times i have seen a frustrated user
sideswiping at OO.o as the problem with varying degrees of vulgarity
(95% of the time these issues are lack of personal training or failure
to read the manuals). But it was because they were not subscribed that
they thankfully missed most the unhelpful replies back from other
subscribers that take the bait.

Is the mailing list server capable of this? 

With the quality of some of the replies given do we want frustrated
newbies recieving ALL replies to their annoyed and protagonistic
missives? Our replies to these often do not further the cause of OO.o,
in other words, if some of the replies were given by a helpdesk it could
be a case for dismissal ;)
