My understanding is that ezmlm receives *all* messages and forwards

The mail manager software ezmlm sends to the list (a) all messages
from subscribed users plus (b) those that have been accepted by the
moderator.
My interpretation is that the addition of headers, trailers or
subject prefixes, as described at <http://www.ezmlm.org/manual/Modifying-Messages.html#Modifying-Messages

thus affect categories (a) and (b) above. So, to paraphrase, my
understanding is that adding "[moderated]" or similar would affect
all messages received by the members of the list.
Darn. Well, at least we understand the mechanics better, now.
Too bad ezmin can't process messages that come back from the
moderators, after they're accepted, differently before sending them to
the list.
Thanks for taking the trouble to run down and read the manual, and
then explain.
