Interesting. I have XP Pro on a P4 here and no icons, no Programs
entry. I've checked the MD5 sum for the download, installed,
uninstalled, killed AV and spyware monitors and installed again; nothing
changed.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I watched the install windows
closely for an option to have/not have the icons & programs entry,
didn't find any. It's only an annoyance; I know how to create them, but
... newbies won't necessarily know how.
Are you certain you're not just re-using older shortcuts somehow?

Thanks for any comments.
