Courtney, I did check the static ignition timing with a test lamp. In
fact I did it on the roadside (real fun!) when I swapped out the condensor.
I did check the float for being filled up with gas. It was not. Sticking on
the pivot?? I did not check specifically really but it seemed fine when fitting
back. Back to the condensor......how often do you guys change a
condensor??? I know the recommendation is to do it with every breaker point
change. But how can you tell if its bad??? I remember there is a test in the
Bentley manual where you check the resistance or something. Ill look at it. But
how to tell if a condensor is going bad otherwise??? In my case,
changing the condensor did not cure my problem at hand but did make a *huge*
difference to the way the engine was running. From a rough idle to a silky
smooth sound. Thanks a lot for your input,Asad
