That's a NN3/Mac bug, I think(!) it works just fine in NN4/Mac.

and 4(Win95), NN3 (Win95/Linux) and 4 (Win95/Linux). I've had plenty
trouble with NN3/Mac when implemeting the image.src replacements. I'm
not sure it can be fixed. Like for MSIE3, I think I'll shut down the
dynamic images facility for that particular browser. Sometimes
problems just go away if you wait a while.
Javascript is so non-standard I normally use it for intranet
applications only. Then I control the actual browser version. But like
Guido said, I faced a horribly design legacy redoing that site. I'm
glad I've got it working at all.
Personally I think javascript is way cool, but especially IE3's lame
implementation and lack of documentation has been a source of great
frustation.
