Depends on how crowded your category is. We had them create a category
for one of our clients some years back. (An old but off-the-beaten-path
religion.)

They are not a search engine, but we do get a lot of hits from them.
They have rather low holdings (number of URL's) compared with other search
engines, but they do get a lot of traffic, which makes them someone to be
nice to.

It is their prerogative. One of the problems is search engine
pollution -- too many links on the search engines. They select for their
visitors... The Mining Co does similar things.

That is what most sites do... they need funding. No different from
a TV station or newspaper.

The key point, is to address yourself to what the people want to
read. One of the ways we help others do that, is by maintaining a large
database of queries other people have run on the search engines. (We sell
reports on those queries. See the URL in my signature block.) If you
write to the queries, using key words and query phrases in the text and
header lines, we find that the pages get picked up and indexed high on
many search engines. With that, your chances of getting into Yahoo are
better. If they maintain any record of what their clientele is interested
in, seeing those phrases in the header lines, and seeing that your pages
have actual content, not just advertising content, should help you get
listed, and listed well, not just on Yahoo, but on most search engines.

I love one of the sig lines I saw years ago. Something like "Truth
is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to make sense."
If any of you want to ask specific questions on keyword usage, I
would be willing to answer one or two of them a week in this forum.
