This has been my general experience in the four years that I've been
submitting stuff to Yahoo -- if the site in question can reasonably be
expected to fit into an existing Yahoo category, then it will be listed.
Though on the other hand, most of the sites I've submitted have been
"specialized" in one sense or another. I don't know how one fares when
submitting "wEbDoOdZ faverite HOT sites!" kinds of links, or whatever.
My main complaint with Yahoo these days is its dwindling relevance. I
almost never go there anymore, because I just don't find what I need. It
also has growing numbers of dead links. Came across a link to a local
business today there last week, for instance, which I know has been
defunct for over a year (the link, not the business.)
I can find far more and more relevant hits on most topics using a
combination of Google and AltaVista, hands down. Yahoo is currently
coasting on the strength of a much-inflated reputation IMO. It's pre-
eminence can't last.
