I had some trouble as well. I called Yahoo and they called me back.
The next site I wanted to register was registered with them. I tried
to get it in many sections but it landed in only one but my
description brings it up when you "search yahoo". I would not waste
my time trying to get a site listed in so many different directories
the next time. I would really try to find the right category and put
it there even though I may want it somewhere else.

I have actually tried to dissuade people from believeing Yahoo is a
search engine. They are a directory. You can search their directory.
If a match is not found in their directory then they will use your
search terms at a search engine for you. Yahoo is definitely not a
search engine.

I have always thought this. In the beginning they were probably less
selective but as the web matures, so matures their selection process.

That is like blaming microsoft when the blame is with people and
their lack of discrimination. I agree that most people would say
that Yahoo is a search engine. I would also say that most people have
no idea what a search engine is.

Yes, they should be more up front.

Good complaints.

I once read that yahoo was going to allow people to pay for
submissions. It would be tricky.
Yahoo is always tops in my referrers but remember, this is only one
part of the package as The Rainmaker would tell you.
What is "Surfers' Picks" at Yahoo? Why not become a surfer and then
list the site you want listed as "your pick". You may not get in
your category but I bet most people search yahoo rather than drill
down through categories.
