I think, frankly, that this is a terrible idea. You should be securing your
client to you through the quality of your work, not because you own its
domain name. Some clients would, with some justification, view this as
blackmail of sorts. "Deal with us or you'll never get to use your domain
name again!"
And I also think you'd have a pretty tough time defending that approach
legally. If a company pays you to perform a service for them, then in
almost all cases (except where specific intellectual property is concerned)
the fruits of your labor belong to them.
