First, when the name was changed, I wrote and talked with the responsables of the change (I think you know them) but they didn't hear me because they didn't want... Until now I didn't know what to do it and I had no very time, but nowadays I want to inform about that change, which nobody ask me for opinion, and I want to make a proposal. Nowadays, I don't try to convince to nobody about my ideas or your ideas, I think the name "Valencian" is very clear (instead of others). It's a non-political name and the legal name, Wesnoth don't have to say to the users if Valencian is language or dialect, Wesnoth should let freedom of thinking... If you put the name "Valencian" ones think it's a dialect and others think it's a language... if you put "Valencian-Catalan" or "Valencian (southern Catalan)" you say to the players what they have to think and it's no good for the freedom of thinking... I have my ideas, you have your ideas (I know it), let to the players have their own ideas. It's a bad thing? And remember that the name "Valencian" it's legally oficial. If I don't receive more answers from here probably I will post to wesnoth-i18n, but if someone give me his opinion from here I will answer in order to clarify my proposal. Thanks for the suggestion about wesnoth-i18n. Have a good day. Coordinator of Valencian translation Mario (Mavorte)

Your description of how the name was changed is a bit misleading. It was changed as soon as other people noticed your translation: that is, only a few weeks after the initial translation was added to Wesnoth's repository. The first translation dates from September 9 2006, and the name was changed on October 6 2006. Other than that, I think you are addressing the wrong audience. If you want to convince someone that Valencian and Catalan aren't the same language, you should write a paper and try to get it published. I'm pretty sure most Wesnoth developers don't care about it (next time please write to wesnoth-i18n instead).
