Spanish laws say that the language used in Valencian Comunity is Valencian
(look its Statute)... Following the AVL and the most extended theory say that
Valencian follows an own standard as important and legal as the Catalan
standard from Barcelona. That's why it has two names, following the most
extended idea, but there are others theories... In Valencian Comunity don't use
legally the Catalan standard from Barcelona and don't use the name "Catalan"
because don't follow the IEC, follow oficially the AVL (with the
Valencian standard)...

It's true that I follow the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture (RACV), an
academy founded in 1915 (the oldest Valencian Academy), the other (AVL) came in
2001 by the local government... Furthermore, RACV is inside "Institute of
Spain" (association of Spanish academies) and have the title "Royal" gave by
the Spanish King (AVL doesn't have these historical privileges)... but if you
want, to be more accurate I propose the name: "Valencian (RACV) translation" if
you don't like the oficial name "Valencian translation", but the use of the
name Catalan aren't legal and you shouldn't say to the players what idea they
have to think about the Valencian too (because there are many ideas)

I propose you many solutions:
a. Catalan translation and Valencian translation
b. Catalan-Valencian translation and Valencian (RACV) translation

I'm opening to other proposals... But I think it isn't more diplomatic threaten
to remove my data and don't let me access, are there freedom to translate in my
own language? (Or dialect for you, I don't mind) Furthermore, the local
government of Valencian Comunity subsidize the RACV in order to let freedom of
thinking and expression about this issue. Wesnoth let me and let to many
valencian players the freedom to use the language that they want?

Have a good day you too

Coordinator of Valencian or Valencian (RACV) translation (what you want)
Mario (Mavorte)

PS: I defend the freedom of thinking and expression and the right to translate
into my own language (following my thinkings and my democratical rights), the
players also have the right to use and to enjoy using my translation if they
want (or using Catalan translation if they have another ideas), what is the
problem?

We, the valencian translators, will forget this situation and we will accept the
change of locale to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (from valencia_ES) if the name of my
translation, Valencian, is restored by the following reasons:

Spanish laws, as well as Universities, and international standard bodies,
recognise that "Valencian" is a valid name for the same language that
is
usually known as "Catalan".

Moreover, at the same time it is common usage to refer as "Valencian"
to the
southern variant of Catalan. When translations use the standarised
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" language code, they are referring to
"Valencian" as the
southern variant of Catalan.

Your translation, however, is not Valencian at all by either of these
meanings. I presume you are aware of this, but I'll explain for the sake
of others.

The "official" Valencian, that is, the language identified as
Valencian
by all Universities in the world (without exception), by international
standard bodies like ISO and by the Spanish legal system, whose grammar
is taught at schools in the Valencian Country, is _NOT_ the language you
have used for the translation.

Those strings are based on the grammar made by a rogue organization
known as RACV. They fail a simple dictionary test, and it is completely
incorrect to refer to them as "Valencian".

Please keep the discussion about history theories and literature off the list.
Send it to the relevant authorities, starting with Universities, then official
lingüistical authorities, standard bodies, etc. When you have convinced
them, come back with references proving so.
