Yes the files are good and videos play like they did before, the cpu fan
works fine and the temp
holds steady at 49C and the mb at 32 C, also have active cooling on the
memory sticks.
The exhaust fan blows cool, feels the same as the air on the floor, the
ps is warm but cooler
than my other computer.
This is academic now as it hung again and would not boot and I
tried to reinstall windows
XP Pro 12 times and it hangs while trying that it starts and says
there is no hd and bios
must reset to show hd again. Windows starts to install and it hangs
again and again, it
made it to the format section several times but hangs before it finishes.
I am just about out of ideas, but will open it up again and switch
the IDE headers and see
what happens!
Thanks Joe

Memory or disk controller problems:
If the system is performing well in memory and CPU intensive activities,
than the next consideration is insufficient power to run cpu, memory and
disk drive simultaneously - such as at closedown - or possibly PSU
overheating - is the PSU fan working ? properly?
Moving the 'files' will have returned appropriate space previously assigned
for those files content to 'freespace'
so the thing to check with them is:
Is their content correct, or have some areas of disk been used
simultaneously for the data content of multiple files.
