They're all Medicines (danger!), to be applied judiciously.
I'd say it often helps to have a skilled wizard see us through our
affliction while we're with the Program, and to prescribe and apply
the medicine as our condition changes.
Self-medication is often not safe, and there's the danger of addiction, and
poisoning; and, even infecting others, poisoning them,
or getting THEM addicted.
(New-Age is a dispensary where EVERYTHING is over-the-counter [danger!] [severe
tire damage!]).
Hypochondriacs, especially, cannot trust themselves to practice self-medicine.
And as we all know, never, never read a Medical text: you'll "develop" symptoms
of "every disease in the book."
Just thinking out loud, Kris; appreciating your post. I think you've got the
History and ancestry nailed. Nice!, on every point.
Tnx,
