I think I've run into the same problem you're having, and I'm not using the VM. I occasionally have events (that are collected automatically by snmp) come in where a clear event is created, but the initial event does not get moved to the history.
I'm pretty sure all of my events have null eventClassKeys so I haven't been able to do any mapping at all.
