I'm a zfs noob so I have to give a big thank you to ilovezfs for the work he has done. Using his zfsadm script I was able to install openzfs without a hitch (so far).
I installed a zvol formatted to hfs+ on a raidz2 4x2TB zpool which I am using as a timemachine archive (one of two). It's still early and I haven't stressed the pool but TimeMachine appears to working just fine. Congrats to all the contributors. It looks like progress is being made.
