I couldn't reproduce this with aplaymidi which I use. I'm listening to
the end of it right now. I will see if I can get pmidi and MusE and
reproduce it.
What you tell me about MusE suggests that it's due to many tempo changes
close to each other. They do pile on very quickly at the ramp - they have
to. It might make sense to offer two types of MIDI export, one that
ignores ramps, one that fakes them as profligately as it needs to.

That is dreadful. I have got to fix that before I consider this branch
workable. This sort of thing is exactly the reason for giving this a good
hard look in a separate branch.
