Maybe a different version. Mine is whatever shipped with the last Kubuntu LTS from almost two years ago. I guess if we get it working with 2 out of 3 "standard MIDI players" that's probably adequate. The idea was to test with things other than Rosegarden, to see how this is doing as an export/exchange format.
