Sure it's worth having, it's just hard to reconcile a neat MIDI file with
something that fundamentally can't be represented in MIDI. Is it better to
mangle the durations or to put in twelve dozen bizarre tempo changes?

My position is that either way you go doesn't really matter, because you're
still making a big mess of things in the end.

I think I'd argue that if we're really just going to categorically refuse to
export tempo ramps, then we ought to either remove tempo ramps or offer some
function to convert them to fixed tempo changes that _can_ be exported.

What we've got now is nobody can figure out or decide anything, so we've had a
bug of omission for countless years. I'm simply trying to encourage someone
to do something about that, through whatever means seem most appropriate to
the guy wielding the shovel at the time.

Bear in mind in all of this that this problem has existed for years, and the
fate of the world doesn't hinge on solving it right this second. We can
happily go on ignoring tempo ramps, and only a few people will ever notice or
care. I'd like to think a few would be really happy to see this one finally
addressed though. Maybe I'm dreaming.
