About Dying Into This

We have reached a critical stage in our evolution. What is being asked of us
now is to relate to each other from a higher state of consciousness, one born
of love and compassion. Dying Into This offers a very practical, accessible
message of transformation through love. Written outside of the confines of any
religion, order, or philosophy, its clear message simply helps the reader to
recognize their innate wisdom. The book supports and cultivates the goodness of
each individual by reminding them of their true heart, thereby restoring a deep
connection to all of life. Only once we each get in touch with that can any
real, positive change happen.

“It is undeniable how connected we all are – to God, to self, and to each
other. Once this is seen, we move from love – and that is how we will transform
the world – one heart at a time.’

– Prajna Ana

A NASA scientist believes this can be done in the near future. If that is
possible, humans can very easily go to other exoplanets for colonization.
However, IMO, if you look at the theory behind this idea, it's somehat
similar to Yogic Flying.

Also, we haven't done such a great job colonizing this planet. Maybe we
should get our act together here before inflicting ourselves on other
planets.

Yes, we have plenty on sunshine and wind, and the creativity to take full
advantage of it, thus eliminating our need to soil our own nest with
antiquated sources of energy like oil and coal. Oh, but wait. Those
industries spend millions to buy politicians who will keep them in business,
regardless of how many people it ends up killing. OK, never mind. Ecocide
full steam ahead.

A few years ago, I thought that the US was trying to conserve its oil
resources by importing about half of its oil needs. Now it appears that the
country's natural resources may have to be sold to international financiers
to pay off the national debt.

You think the money will be used to pay off the national debt, or just line
the pockets of the oil barons?

[FairfieldLife] Amma on Delhi rape/murder

2013-01-14 Thread Rick Archer

Amma posted an article which was printed in the New Indian Express paper,
regarding the Delhi tragedy. She spoke on this subject at her satsang just
before leaving on the N. India tour.

Women, break your shackles and awaken
By Mata Amritanandamayi06th January 2013 12:00 AM
Amma wishes to express her deep sorrow about the recent trend of men in our
country to trample women underfoot as pleasure-giving objects, with no
consideration of human values. Is this country that taught unique and divine
thoughts such as worshipping God as Mother, seeing God Consciousness in
everything and showing tolerance to the world, now becoming a land of asuric,
demonic minds? The latest atrocity was the most brutal physical and emotional
abuse that a young girl in Delhi had to go through, which finally claimed her
life.

No one can question the reality of motherhood—that man is created from woman.
Yet those who refuse to come out of the cocoon of their narrow minds will never
be able to comprehend this—you cannot explain light to those who only know
darkness.

Who should awaken woman? What obstructs her awakening? The truth is that no
external power can possibly obstruct woman or her innate qualities of
motherhood—qualities such as love, empathy and patience. It is she—she
alone—who has to awaken herself. A woman’s mind is the only real barrier that
prevents this from happening.

The rules and superstitious beliefs that degrade women, continue to prevail in
most countries. The primitive customs invented by men to exploit and subjugate
women remain alive to this day. Women and their minds have become entangled in
the cobweb of those customs.

An elephant can uproot huge trees with its trunk. When an elephant living in
captivity is still a calf, it is tethered to a tree with a strong rope. The
calf elephant tries with all its might to break the rope. When its efforts
prove futile, it finally gives up. Later, when the same elephant is fully
grown, it can be tethered to any small tree with a thin rope. It could easily
free itself by uprooting the tree or breaking the rope. But because its mind
has been conditioned by its prior experiences, it does not make the slightest
attempt to break free.

This is what is happening to women. The infinite potential inherent in man and
woman is the same. If women really want to, they can easily break the shackles
of the rules and conditioning that society has imposed on them.

A woman’s greatest strength lies in her innate motherhood, in her creative,
life-giving power. This power can help women bring about a far more significant
change in society than men can ever accomplish. In today’s world, where
everything is being contaminated and made unnatural, women should take extra
care that her qualities of motherhood—her essential nature as a woman—don’t
become contaminated and distorted. Yet, whether woman or man, one’s real
humanity comes to light only when the feminine and masculine qualities within
one are balanced.

India has had such a great legacy of women who have contributed to all spheres
of development in society; may it be warriors, teachers, spiritual luminaries,
musicians or social workers. Though not acknowledged enough in our history
books or in the social media, their contribution has been prolific. This legacy
has to continue and grow with time.

The forthcoming age should be dedicated to awakening universal motherhood.
Women everywhere have to actualise the qualities of motherhood within
themselves. This is the only way to realise our dream of peace and harmony. And
it can be done! It is entirely up to us. Let us remember that real leadership
is not to dominate or to control, but to serve others with love and compassion,
and to inspire women and men alike through the example of our lives.

Let us all pray that cruel minds, which denigrate women, be transformed. May
the Paramatma help them to follow our rich tradition, and respect the women of
this country and all other countries.

The writer is a world renowned spiritual leader

The more Love you give, the more your heart is filled with Love.
Love is like a never ending stream. -Amma

by http://batgap.com/?author=1 Rick

http://batgap.com/cesar-teruel/cesar/ At the age of 4 or 5 I was already
feeling puzzled and confused by human behavior.

At the age of 11, due to the discovery of the identity of my real mother, I
lost respect and credibility for human culture and there arose in me an urge to
understand the unreasonable behavior of humans.

The search for truth started in the streets and I went through multiple phases:
drugs, alcohol, religion, shamanism, spiritism, politics, revolution and
spirituality.

I didn’t find anything there but brief moments of tranquility - nothing
permanent and tangible that could be called THE TRUTH - so I decided to find
the truth for my self by my self. But I couldn’t, so I surrendered. And there
and then I realized there is nothing to understand.

In an instant, the clarity of this truth was there in such an obvious way and
interpreted intellectually in this way: the one that perceives, the act of
perceiving and what is perceived are one and the same. Separation simply does
not exist. There is nothing to understand or to attain. There is only the
totality. Life is an indivisible unit.

[FairfieldLife] More on Trigunaji

2013-01-02 Thread Rick Archer
Our most beloved great, great embodiment of Ayurveda - Padma Bhushan Vaidya
Brihaspati Dev Triguna-ji joined Maharishi-ji in the Heavens today, January
1, 2013, evening time in Delhi. Maharishi used to rise from his seat when
Triguna-ji entered the Hall - a very rare sign of reverence. Triguna-ji
every so often presented Maharishi with the Amrit Kalash, Nectar of of
immortality, in a ceremonial way, giving it to Maharishi to distribute it to
everyone in the world. Triguna-ji was profoundly revered by people from all
walks of life around the world.

Dr. Anand Shrivastava writes:

Around Maharishi there were many great seers, called rishis in Vedic
wisdom. The very word Maharishi means the greatest of great seers, one who
sees truth.

Of all the luminaries Maharishi gathered around him in the early 1980s to
delve deep into the ayurvedic texts, there are three that he honored as
rishis in the field of ayurveda: Dr. B.D. Triguna, Dr. Balaraj Maharishi,
and Dr. Dwivedi. These three master vaidyas (ayurvedic experts) are revered
in India as custodians of this precious knowledge of life, and they made
many invaluable contributions that ensured the authenticity and
effectiveness of our products.

Dr. Brihaspat DevTriguna is considered the foremost authority in the area of
pulse diagnosis and in the uses of minerals and herbs for bringing imbalance
back into balance. Just by feeling the pulse, he can tell the past health
history of a person and what could happen to that person's health in the
future. And based on that pulse diagnosis he will recommend taking certain
herbs or products and make certain changes in diet. In this way he helps
people bring balance into their life.

Dr. Triguna is a master of the ayurvedic texts. I have been very fortunate
to read his books of ayurvedic scriptures, and have seen that they are
marked with lines, colors, and other notes beside passages that he wanted to
remember. For any health problem, he would take out a text and know the
verse that contained the solution. He would go deeply into the texts,
explaining how this problem comes and what are the ways this problem can be
handled. With his tremendous knowledge, he is a great personality in this
area, and MAPI has been very fortunate to receive his blessings.

A famous doctor in India, Dr. Triguna has served as the president of the
All-India Ayurvedic Congress and as the personal vaidya to the prime
president of India. In 2003 Dr. Triguna received the second highest civilian
honor from the government of India, the Padma Vibhushan Award.

Dr. Triguna also treats hundreds of poor people who flock to his clinic
every day. Many times I saw Triguna treat people whose doctors had told them
their disease was incurable. He gave them herbal powders, liquid decoctions
or herbal tea, and the person would get better. From reading the reports by
medical doctors, we saw that they were surprised. Many of these authentic,
traditional formulas are now offered by Maharishi Ayurveda Products
International. This is just a small part of the invaluable contribution made
to MAPI by Dr. B.D. Triguna, one of the greatest ayurvedic rishis of our
times.

by http://batgap.com/?author=1 Rick

 http://batgap.com/anita-moorjani/anita-moorjani-2/ Anita was diagnosed with
terminal cancer, and doctors told her family she was just hours away from
death. It was at this point that she “crossed over” and then returned again
into this world with a clearer understanding of her life and purpose on earth.
This understanding subsequently led to a total recovery of her health.

Anita was born in Singapore of Indian parents, moved to Hong Kong at the age of
two, and has lived in Hong Kong most of her life. Because of her background and
British education, she is multi lingual and, from the age of two, grew up
speaking English, Cantonese and two Indian dialects simultaneously, and later
learned French at school.

She had been working in the corporate field for many years before being
diagnosed with cancer in April of 2002. Her fascinating and moving near-death
experience in early 2006 has tremendously changed her perspective on life. Her
work is now ingrained with the depths and insights she gained while in the
other realm. She works on the premise that our inner world (consciousness) is
our primary reality, and if our internal state is healthy and strong, then our
external world will align itself and fall into place as a result.

She is the embodiment of the truth that we all have the inner power and wisdom
to overcome even life’s most adverse situations, as she is the living proof of
this possibility.

[FairfieldLife] Reflections on Dec 21

2012-12-28 Thread Rick Archer
From the friend of a friend of a friend:

Reflections on the events of Dec 12, 2012

As the Global Mother Divine director for Guatemala, I thought I’d pass on some
reflections I had from the events on December 21 this year in Monte Alban. I
don’t really know that much about it and certainly shouldn’t be taken as an
authority. Much of this is just what I have gleaned from glimpses I have gained
while trying to keep in touch with it in spare moments over the last few years.

The first part is meant to be fact. I hope I’ve got all the details at least
mostly right. Many of you may know most of this and more.

The Mayans never actually thought that Dec 21 was going to be the end of the
world. In fact, until 2010 the Mayans never even talked about the ending of
their calendar at all. The Mayans are, in general, quite happy and comfortable
to stay to themselves. Not many are welcome into their world and very few ever
leave. So there has not been much communication of what they believe or don’t
believe, until the last couple of years, with anyone.

But more than a decade ago some Mayans apparently did come to the US to college
here and mentioned that their calendar ended on Dec 21. They had no idea what
that meant or what was going to happen after that. So the Judeo-Christian
apocalyptic habit of thinking in this country turned it into the end of the
world. And that concept went around the world. EVERYONE around the world, as
far as I can tell from my travels and living with so many of other cultures,
knew that Dec 21 was ‘The Day’.

But 2 years ago, the Mayan elder who is the Prophesy Keeper and Day Keeper, Don
Alejandro, did start to talk about the end of the calendar, and in order to
quell the fear, he did go as public as possible with the help of new age
friends through internet and travels to other countries. His message was,
‘Don’t be afraid! The world is not going to end. It is the end of the current
cycle of time and the beginning of a new one.’ The ending cycle started about
5000 years ago, about the time Kali Yuga started.

The thing that amazes me was that he describes it in the same way and even with
the same words that Maharishi describes the new age he worked towards for so
many decades. Don Alejandro said the new time will be Heaven on Earth (those
words were used on the internet, at least), a time of peace and harmony, where
there will be no sickness or suffering. It will be a time when people will fly
through the air like clouds. The world will be without boarders, and everyone
will be able to travel anywhere without passports. He described it as a
beautiful new time to very much look forward to. He also predicted that the day
would be like any other day, like New Years eve. A new year is beginning, but
it doesn’t feel immediately any different from the old year. These are
prophesies that, as I understand it, have been around for 5000 years, but have
been passed on from father to son, or keeper to keeper, silently. The Mayan
people didn’t even really know. No one did until 2 years ago.

There is no TM Movement in Guatemala, no local teachers. Raja Louis imported
two Spanish Governors to teach there a number of years ago, and they have been
knocking on doors, and knocking on doors for many years, and for so long found
the doors all locked. Finally they found some openings, and finally they
reached the Mayan elders. I have no idea how long it took for the elders to
‘get’ what the Governors were saying, but when they finally did, the response
was kind of like, ‘Come in! We’re expecting you! This TM will eliminate
disharmony in collective consciousness? It will create peace? Please, tell us
what to do. You can teach us to fly? All the children should learn? Yes. We
will start now.”

Once it started, there was no stopping it. Last July, on Guru Purnima some
Mayans had learned the practice (I forget, maybe a few thousand?). But there
was no inkling that it was going to turn into what it is now, 6 months later,
with 8,000 students practicing yogic flying every day at the same time in
Mexico and Guatemala. After the demonstration on Dec 21, a contract was signed
with the Minister of Education of Mexico for 69,000 students to learn the
practice.

It was pretty amazing how Nature organized it. The flying block for 5,000 quite
spontaneously and naturally ended on Dec 20 and that was the last day of school
for the winter holidays. They wanted to have a graduation ceremony, so they
decided to have it at a traditional holy spot of their people. Most of the
children had never been there before. So it kind of happened that all the
students that money was raised for, went to Monte Alban to practice Yogic
Flying together on Dec 21, 2012. It was a new beginning. Even though school is
out, no one goes anywhere. From now on all the children will do their program
together every day of the year whether or not school is in session,

Please post and circulate widelySirius Film update

Many of you have been asking when the film will be finished and available.
Please let us clarify. The campaign to raise money for the production just
ended on December 5. We thank all of you so much for your enthusiastic
contributions. But that is not the end of the work. We are awaiting the
results of the genetic testing on the little 6 inch being. That testing is
being done by a scientist top in his field in a major US university. He has
ordered specialized equipment and materials to obtain the most accurate results
possible and the timing is out of our control. We feel this would be a
powerful addition to the film and await his results . When he has them he will
be filmed discussing his findings. We anticipate the Sirius film will be ready
for initial release late winter/ early spring 2013.Listed below are the
promised incentive gifts and the deliver dates that were listed as estimated
dates on the kickstarter site when we started the campaign.$5 donation -

RE: [FairfieldLife] Re: Same Sex Marriage Is a Crime Against Humanity

2012-12-26 Thread Rick Archer
A friend of mine got kicked off campus in the 80’s (expelled – he was a
student) because he was openly, somewhat flagrantly gay. These days he’s in the
good graces of the movement and doing a lot to help in various ways. Charlie
Lutes used to claim that Maharishi had made dire predictions about the fate of
gay people, such as “it would be better had they never been born”. I don’t know
much more than that.

I am curious as to the TMO's position on gays - inthe 1980's at MIU I knew a
guy from Canada who was gay and he claimed that there was a great deal of
prejudice from the TMO toward gays as in if it were known someone were gay they
would be asked to leave the university as apparently the TMO thought being gay
reflected badly on the TMO - I had never heard this at the time and asked
around and several people said it was true pretty much throughout the entire
official Movement. At the time I was still a TM junkie, so didn't know what to
think except that it was a pretty screwed up attitude for the Movement to take.
Anyone know anything about the TMO's stance on gays and lesbians?

I often wonder if these people who claim homosexuality is going to destroy
humanity ever did any research on the statistics of homosexuals. Statistics
like this:

1. Percentage of murders committed by homosexuals vs. heterosexuals
2. Percentage of rapes committed by homosexuals vs. heterosexuals
3. Percentage of members of congress responsible for the housing market bubble
crisis that were homosexual vs. heterosexual
4. Percentage of congress, DOD, and Dept of State members who justified
unnecessary wars who were homosexual vs. heterosexual
5. Percentage of theft and fraud committed by homo vs. hetero

I don't know if there's a way to research these stats because some people hide
the fact that they're homosexual. But I can say this from experience: I've been
lied to, assaulted, cheated, had personal belongings stolen, verbally insulted,
and none of the people who did these things were gay/lesbian (at least not
openly).

This is very typical hypocrisy, to create severe problems in society then
demonize some other social group who doesn't contribute even a fraction to the
really serious problems that you do. I'm open to the idea that homosexuality is
a perversion and unnatural, but i'm also not stupid enough to think that
homosexuals are destroying humanity at any faster of a rate than heterosexuals.
Heterosexuals are more than capable of destroying humanity without any help
from the homosexuals.

Seekliberation,

It can be argued that homosexuality inhibits the growth of Creative
Intelligence. The gross effect if not checked is the collapse of society.
For example, many of the countries in Europe are losing population and are
not replacing those who have died. As such, there will be no young people
who could take over the jobs of the country which would contribute to the
loss of productivity, or at worst the collapse of society.

This trend has not yet reached this level of concern in the USA. But it is
worth watching what would happen in Europe.

[FairfieldLife] posting for someone

2012-12-26 Thread Rick Archer
Ordinarily I don't like to play middleman, but someone asked me to post
this, and in a weak moment, I said yes:

I came up with an idea of what's opposite of the Unified Field. Since in
John Hagelin's (a world reknowned quantum physicist) work he says the
Unified Field is pure knowledge, I imagine the opposite would be
not-knowingness. Also since the Unified Field is everything I imagine the
opposite would be Nothing. However this nothing is something as it would
have to be manifest with boundaries. I haven't come up with the answers to
this yet but somehow it is still connected to the Unified Field. Also this
is way out there but in Meta-physics they talk about polarities in the
universe, Love and Fear; Love being all there is and fear being false
evidence appearing real. However, this fear, would still be something as a
concept. Once again in Hagelin's work he refers to Hidden Sector matter
being what thoughts are made out of. Maybe this is how the nothing gets
created. This is totally intellectual, but, if nothingness (Shain McVay
Matter) was from a concept, maybe that's created from John Hagelin's hidden
sector matter idea. (You can find this on the internet). Maybe a concept is
nothing and it is relative to the Unified Field; picture the Unified Field
in 3D with something going out of it toward you. This matter sits onto of
the Unified Field, I see this in my head btw. I believe it's in another
Dimension.

Also I was thinking about the first dimension and a light was there, like
you would see in a tunnel. Then I saw my grandpa waving at me tell me it's
okay to come to him. Then when I entered I saw the Heavens going out like a
triangular thing. then I looked to the side and saw Shain McVay Matter and
saw that it was me all along.

Anyways, have a good one FairfieldLife

[FairfieldLife] Rock Revolution the Counterculture [1 Attachment]

2012-12-23 Thread Rick Archer

Dear wilted flower children and their children,

Anyone wishing to understand the Counterculture of the 1960s would do well
starting with the following video and essay as primers,

Inside Pop -- The Rock Revolution:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afU76JJcquI

and Countercultures by Irving Kristol in the Dec. 1994 issue of Commentary
(attached)

Inside Pop -- The Rock Revolution is a CBS News special, broadcast in April
1967. The show was hosted by Leonard Bernstein and is probably one of the
first examples of pop music being examined as a serious art form. The film
features many scenes shot in Los Angeles in late 1966, including interviews
with Frank Zappa and Graham Nash, as well as the now-legendary Brian Wilson
solo performance of Surf's Up.

This show also has interviews with members of Gentle Soul:

  http://www.saradainc.com/RickStanleyPressKit/gentlesoul-pic-270x206.jpg

Recognize him? (She is Pamela Polland)

He is Fairfield, Iowa resident, Celtic harp maker and father of Kaitlyn
Winkler's high school classmate, Gwen Stanley. That's right, he is also
former member of the Natural Tendency, Rick Stanley.

Inside Pop - The Rock Revolution, although obviously about music, has as its
larger theme the emerging counterculture and the confusion of our parent's
generation (represented by Leonard Bernstein) expressed in his and David
Oppenheimer 's (the film's director) questions to these young musicians and
the audience.

These questions are answered in many ways with insight by another member of
our parent's generation, Irving Kristol, in his article, Countercultures.

The counterculture that emerged in the United States in the 1960's -- and
pretty much simultaneously in all the Western democracies -- is certainly
one of the most significant events in the last half-century of Western
civilization. It has reshaped our educational system, our arts, our forms
of entertainment, our sexual conventions, our moral codes. So it is
important that we understand it -- more important, indeed, than that we
criticize it

Enjoy,

If you are interested (especially if you are a musician) in exploring more
about the now-legendary Brian Wilson solo performance of Surf's Up,

So it's Friday, and the End Of The World to boot. Cool.

So I finished all my work for the week a few minutes ago, and then chose to
celebrate it by taking a walk around the 'hood I live in, prior to
celebrating it by going out to dinner with my extended adoptive family.

And the walk was just smokin', which is why I'm writing about it. Really
uplifting and wonderful. Consider this my belated Wussy Wednesday
submission. Also, just in case the world really does end in a few minutes,
consider it one of my last comments on it.

One of the benefits of living in a tight,
crowded-by-some-people's-standards, inner-city, European 'hood is that you
get to Walk In History. The house behind ours, situated on the canal that
used to be just inside the fortified walls of this medieval city, was built
in 1660. The canal predates it, commerce tending in history to predate the
lifestyles of those who profited from it.

The Herengracht is not officially one of the biggest or most significant of
the waterways in my city, but it has its charms. All of the buildings
gracing its banks are built using the same Dutch red brick building style as
the 1660 house, although many were built more recently. And they're cool and
all. But turn aside from them, walk a few feet to the actual canal itself
and look around, and what you find yourself in is a world of Light On Water.

The water in the canal is not static. It's not a passive watcher of this
whole scene. It's more of an active participant, taking the light reflected
from the street lights and the house lights and the moon and the occasional
(it's the Netherlands) star, and reflecting them on, cooler than they were
when they arrived.

It's almost as if the water in the canal is an artist, taking the incoming
light and then bouncing it off of its everchanging surface and reflecting it
onward kinda bent, and thus more interesting. A streetlight seen directly is
all solid and all...kinda boring. But look at the reflection of the
streetlight in the Herengracht and you see this pulsating, everchanging
globule of light, with no fixed boundaries and no particular need to adapt
itself to them.

It's a cool effect. I kinda like it.

Maybe there needs to be a tipping point with the course office, as there
now appears to be with the NRA, or as there was in the 50's with Senator
Joseph McCarthy, in which the office is shamed into irrelevancy and
powerlessness, and forced to shut down.

Dateline Spiritual Fairfield,

A Hurt Community.

In a few weeks once the Pandits all arrive we still are going to be short of
a consistent 2000+ people meditating in the Dome tallies and will probably
need another couple hundred local meditators at the margins to come back to
the Domes.

The very real thing I am running in to now as I interview people is that the
old movement meditators here feel they don't (should not) have to prove
anything to the course to get back in to Dome to meditate. It's a strongly
held sentiment. I'm talking with old cultured movement meditators applying
for a badge who then with some vehemence are feeling they they should not
have to explain themselves when it becomes apparent that the Capital has
kept files on them. They are appalled. So it is.

This last weekend Jonas Magram produced a folk evening of local musicians at
the Paradiso stage. Someone told me that one performer did a R B rag with
a spirited refrain that went on something like I ain't going to go to the
Dome no more. Apparently it was really well done as a send up of the
situation here. About 2/3's of the crowd applauded enthusiastically and 1/3
of the crowd sat stoically on their hands and were not amused at all. Of the
larger meditating community, that is about the right ratio of how people
feel about the organizational TM movement as they would consider coming back
to help out with the numbers.

I spoke with someone this weekend at a holiday get together, an old TM
movement person, someone who had early spent a lot of face time around
Maharishi, taught a lot of people to meditate, ran Centers who then observed
that she felt completely offended that she would have to prove herself to
the Course Office staff by chasing down recommends and attending advanced
lectures at the Peace Palace. She lost interest right there to be involved
in the cult again with her application to meditate in the Dome. She is a
meditator here. She is someone who is here who was willing to be in the Dome
meditating to help out. The feeling about how it has gone though is bad and
defended.

I ran in to three other people last week interviewing who spoke the same way
about going back who had dropped pursuing their applications any further
beyond initial interviews when they were met with questions about what was
in their files and then having to come up with recommends and going to
advanced lectures at the Peace Palace to prove themselves.

An interesting idea, and a hopeful one, but as I seem
to remember it, the tipping point with Joe McCarthy
was really precipitated by the most trusted man in
America taking him on, at peril to his own career and
reputation. That was, of course, Edward R. Murrow,
arguably the best newsman America has ever had.

Who might such a person be within the TMO? What would
happen, for example, if poster boy David Lynch lined
up with the people being declared Off The Program, and
thus anathema, and banned from the domes? Or Oprah?
Or Paul McCartney?

If you need to inspire yourself with what one man (or
woman) can do if suitably ethical and suitably motivated,
I heartily recommend a viewing or re-viewing of the film
written and directed by George Clooney, Good Night, and
Good Luck. In it you get to see the face of evil himself,
Joseph McCarthy, as he really looked and acted in newsreel
footage, and David Strathairn as the voice and face of
Murrow, bringing a great actor's take to the actual
text of Murrow's news broadcasts. The movie touched me
deeply, and made me get all teary from time to time,
seeing what the TV News *used to be*, compared with
what it is now.

One person -- if they are visible enough and respected
enough -- really CAN change things. Why I bring this up
is that although ideas themselves are suitable motivators
for many people, I don't think that the larger community
of TM practitioners -- having been trained for so many
decades to be personality worshipers -- are at this point
able to react to mere ideas. They need a spokesperson,
a charismatic person to whom they can switch their
allegiance and then follow. Just my opinion...

[FairfieldLife] A mountain story

2012-12-19 Thread Rick Archer
From a friend on Purusha:

Dear Friends far and wide,

Our ashram is at 6900 feet elevation, and the other Uttarkashi Purusha ashram
is at 5000 feet, many kilometers south of us. The selection of these two
pieces of land and the construction of the buildings took place over several
years and was the focus of much attention on the part of Maharishi. Sometime
after the first men arrived to occupy the ashram Maharishi told someone, “No
one should live above 5000 feet”. This might seem a frivolous or even
incomprehensible remark, considering the time and cost involved in creating our
home. After all, there were other sites at lower altitudes where we could have
built. Why here? Only last month did it finally make sense to me what was
going on.

Our ashram receives much more rain during monsoon than the other ashram;
sometimes it seems all the clouds from the Bay of Bengal to the Himalayas stop,
and dump rain, at our doorstep. This results in great and small problems for
residents, staff and management. Supplies are often delayed due to roads and
mule trails being washed away. The stupendous monsoon flooding of the Asi Ganga
river in August this year resulted our being highly isolated for two months
without electricity or cooking gas. And our winter is considerably more cold
than the other ashram, a real problem when electricity is cut for hours or even
days at a time.

But if you were to take a walk up a steep trail to the meadow about 1300 feet
above us, a walk of from 50 to 60 minutes, you would no doubt notice the
dancing energy of that place. High meadows like this are called in the
Himalayas, ‘’bugyals’’ (pronounced boog-yaal). Everyone who goes there
discovers that our bugyal is a spiritual power spot. The whole of this bugyal
carries that sweet vibration, but in one corner is the presence most strong.
At one time it was farmed and you can see the terraced fields which are now
fully overgrown with grass. More than half of the land is open fields, and the
rest is forest. Villagers bring their mules, cows and water buffaloes for a
day or more to graze there until snow covers it. And a band of wandering Muslim
herders— entire families— called Gujars, camp out each year for the whole of
monsoon. They graze their herd and the men run down the mountain every morning
after milking to sell the milk in the town of Uttarkashi. One sadhu moved into
a hut there a few years ago and he stays most of the year.

I take a three-hour hike in the mountains every week and one of my favorite
destinations is the bugyal. Being much higher than our ashram the view from
there is much larger. You can see grand peaks far away as you walk on the
novelty of broad flat sod. Beneath one bordering cliff there is a fine
waterfall to sit under in the summer. I usually bring my lunch and slip off to
the corner where all the power radiates from, sit among the trees and feel the
presence of God and breathe the silence in the air.

Our ashram is within the ‘’sacred region’’ of Uttarkashi, mentioned in various
Hindu scriptures. This is the land bound by the Asi Ganga river upstream of
the town of Uttarkashi, and the Varana river, downstream. Both rivers merge
with the holy Ganga river. In India, where two rivers converge is called
sangam. Any river convergence with the Ganga is a holy spot itself, and I can
attest to the spiritual energy that hangs at the sangams of both these rivers.
At one of them I held a traditional first anniversary yagya for my departed
friend, Charlie Johanson. This sacred precinct of Uttarkashi is the core of
why this is called the ‘’Valley of the Saints’’. At one time Maharishi even
declared that ‘’millions’’ of people had become enlightened in the Uttarkashi
Valley area. Was he peering back millennia? Were ancient ashrams right here
on the land we now occupy? Or up at the bugyal?

So when Maharishi described our ashram elevation as undesirable he was only
voicing the practical concerns. But he put his time and money into capturing
the spiritual ideal for us. He once said of our life here, ‘’Even Indra is
envious of you!”.

I wish you joy and peace.

It is sorry to see people in Skelmersdale working to make a whole new
Sthapatya-vedic village, wasting all the effort to build a community,
including a Golden Dome, with the idea that much good will come of it.

We all want to believe that Maharishi is 100% correct. But we have also seen
Veda Land fail, Deepak Chopra going off on his own, tallest building in the
world in the center of India, and other failed projects and mistakes. We
tend to forget about these. He does not have to be 100% correct to be the
wisest man on Earth. 90%, or even 80%, is still WAY above everyone else.

Who said he was the wisest man on earth?

Ravi Shankar died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at age 92. You'll come across
many obituaries and articles, but I don't know how many of them will strike
the chord of nonduality. I tried to approach that in this August 23, 2005
issue of the Highlights:

http://www.nonduality.com/hl2239.htm

It is reprinted here, but you might want to click on the link above and read
the more colorful original version with photos.

~ ~ ~

This issue features a selection from Raga Mala: The Autobiography of Ravi
Shankar. The material was typed from the book and appears nowhere else.

The following Amazon review says what I would have said about the beauty of
the book's design. The book overflows with photographs and is highlighted
with gold: gold endpages, gold lettering for chapter headings, and several
gold pages within the book.

Raga Mala is the autobiography of pandit Ravi Shankar, told in story,
profusely illustrated [some in color], beautifully bound [with luxurious
endpapers], on high quality, beautiful papers. It tells his story
[introduced by George Harrison] from his early childhood, stage [as a dancer
in his brothers famous troupe] to his study of sitar and Hindustani music
with a master[Khan], to his gradual emergence in the west. I had no idea,
that he had performed at Carnegie hall in the 1930's, that John Coltrane's
son Ravi was named after him, or that he was well known BEFORE the Monterey
pop or woodstock concerts [he called woodstock terrifying']. This is a
wonderful book, it tells the ENTIRE ARC of the life of pandit Ravi Shankar
[including his apparent heir and pupil, his daughter Anoushka], and does so
with such a well put together volume. The papers, the binding, the
photographic reproductions are exquisite. The publisher has done a
remarkable job. A classic book, both in form and content.

Our tradition teaches us that sound is God - Nada Brahma. That is, musical
sound and the musical experience are steps to the realization of the self.
We view music as a kind of spiritual discipline that raises one's inner
being to divine peacefulness and bliss. We are taught that one of the
fundamental goals a Hindu works toward in his lifetime is a knowledge of the
true meaning of the universe - its unchanging, eternal essence - and this is
realized first by a complete knowledge of one's self and one's own nature.
The highest aim of our music is to reveal the essence of the universe it
reflects, and the ragas are among the means by which this essence can be
apprehended. Thus, through music, one can reach God.
-Ravi Shankar

Being a Brahmin, I learnt some mantras from gurus as a child, and still
repeat them in my mind as often as I can today. I do firmly believe that
they have tremendous power. For a few years in the late Fifties and early
Sixties, I regularly practiced hatha yoga, but gradually the pace of my life
made it impossible to continue with it (although I still maintain my regular
morning meditations, plus one before giving a recital). Many times in my
life I have been attracted with great surges of love and bhakti (reverence
or devotion) to some godly persons I have known, such as Tat Baba, Ma
Anandamayi, Satya Sai Baba and the late Shankaracharya of Kanchi. Some I
never saw have also exerted a strong pull on me, such as Ramakrishna
Paramahansa, Lahiri Mahasai, Trailange Swami, Babaji and Swami Vivekananda.
But in one's daily life and existence it is hard to attain cosmic
consciousness. Most of the time the only self-realisation states one is
aware of are physical and mundane ones. I am sure many of you have felt this
too.

But MUSIC - that is the thing for me! Mostly it has been when deeply
immersed in my music that I have felt that surge of joy, merging into the
indefinable 'drunken with beauty' moment. Especially when I become attuned
to my sitar, that is the route for me to touch the heart and the God within
myself, and within my millions of listeners over the years.

The spiritual element in Indian music is absolutely essential. From the very
beginning our music was handed down by the yogis, and musicians were
invariably great saintly people, leading a very religious life. Many of the
old songs were philosophical and devotional in nature, written in

The Three Simultaneously True Levels of Nondual Reality; Don't Mistake

The Three Simultaneously True Levels of Nondual Reality
Most humans view their situation in a conventional, non-mystical way,
treating whatever happens as concretely real, and to be judged as good and
bad, etc. By contrast, a growing number of non-dual teachers and students
espouse the viewpoint that whatever happens is the perfect manifestation of
Divine Will, or that nothing is really happening or ever happened. Yet
our situation is not so one-dimensional as these positions would hold, and
an expansive, truly liberated way of talking about Reality will involve more
dimensions. A three-fold model of nondual Reality will be discussed which
many have found quite helpful in accounting for all levels of our
experience.

Don't Mistake Understanding for Realization, Don't Mistake Realization for
Liberation
Reports of spiritual awakenings, once rare, have become commonplace. Modern
seekers often find an intuitive understanding of the ultimate non-dual
reality or the illusory nature of the world to be so liberating that they
conclude they have reached the goal, and that seeking should be renounced.
Ancient traditions caution that such an understanding may be merely a
preliminary stage of development. Moreover, an experiential realization,
beyond the merely conceptual, may feel so complete that one might conclude
that This is it. Some insist that once the non-dual nature of the Self is
realized, one has arrived, and it is meaningless to speak of further degrees
of growth or levels of realization. Others hold that Self-realization is an
important milestone, but that spiritual development never ends. Can we
reconcile the injunction to live in the present moment with the
understanding that there is much development yet to undergo? Are there
criteria by which Enlightenment can be measured or certified?

Hi Emily. I use Skype for my incoming and outgoing calls from and to regular
phones. I think it costs me about $5/month for unlimited calling. You might
consider it as an alternative to Vonage.

My router went down on Thanksgiving. Right now I am connected directly to
my modem. I have vonage, which I am determining is a huge waste of money,
but I need a landline and it is still cheaper than the alternative. Is
Linksys the way to go and are there any suggestions here for what to buy? I
have bought an Epson wireless printer also, but haven't set it up yet. Any
suggestions on what upgrade I should go for? Does the modem I have make a
difference? My old router which gave up on me is a Linksys 2.4 ghz
broadbrand and is about 6 yrs old. My kids are in withdrawal and just
realized that I have the only connection in the house, so there was a bit of
a skirmish tonight and I agreed to fix the problem ASAP. Ha.

I use a headset, but do a search for Skype phone and you'll see wireless
phones that let you walk around the house. Best Buy has them too, if you
want to talk with a sales person. I don't know if your computer has to be on
or not.

I

Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics, so we've decided
we're leaving.

We in California intend to form our own country and we're taking the other Blue
States with us.

In case you aren't aware that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and most of the Northeast.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the
people of the new country of The Enlightened States of America (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:

You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd Akin.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ol' Miss.

We get 85 per cent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.

You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay their
fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 per cent lower than the Christian
Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families.

With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the country's
fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation's
fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at
state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 per cent of the high tech industry, most
of the US low sulphur coal, all living
redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus
Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans and
their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the
tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100%
of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the
University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale,
62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun
laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in
9/11 and 61% of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals
then we lefties.

We're taking the good weed too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico.

This isn't a rumor - John C. Villiers Farrow has been arrested and

accusations from two different youths. As far as I can tell, his only

It'd be easy to assume that John T. Farrow is related to the other

[FairfieldLife] THE LAST PROPHECY By Mother Shipton (1488-1561) (who was burnt at the stake)

THE LAST PROPHECY By Mother Shipton (1488-1561)

In nineteen hundred and twenty-six
build houses light of straw and sticks.
For then shall mighty wars be planned

and fire and swords shall sweep the land.

When pictures seem alive with movements free,
when boats like fishes swim beneath the sea.
When men like birds shall scour the sky.
Then half the world, deep drenched in blood shall die.

For those who live the century through
in fear and trembling this shall do.
Flee to the mountains and the dens
to bog and forest and wild fens.

For storms will rage and oceans roar
when Gabriel stands on sea and shore,
and as he blows his wondrous horn
old worlds die and new be born.

A fiery dragon will cross the sky
six times before the earth shall die.
Mankind will tremble and frightened be
for the six heralds in this prophecy.

For seven days and seven nights
man will watch this awesome sight.
The tides will rise beyond their ken.
To bite away the shores and then
the mountains will begin to roar
and earthquakes split the plain to shore.

And flooding waters rushing in,
will flood the lands with such a din
that mankind cowers in muddy fen
and snarls about his fellow men.

He bares his teeth and fights and kills
and secrets food in secret hill
and ugly in his fear, he lies
to kill marauders, thieves and spies.

Man flees in terror from the floods
and kills, and rapes and lies in blood
and spilling blood by mankind's hand
will stain and bitter many lands.

And when the dragon's tail is gone
man forgets and smiles and carries on.
To apply himself - too late, too late
for mankind has earned deserved fate.

His masked smile, his false grandeur,
will serve the gods their anger stir
and they will send the dragon back
to light the sky - his tail will crack.
Upon the earth and rend the earth
and man shall flee, king, lord and serf.

But slowly they are routed out
to seek diminishing water spout
and men will die of thirst before
the oceans rise to mount to the shore.
And lands will crack and rend anew
do you think it strange, it will come true.

And in some far - off distant land
some men - oh such a tiny band
will have to leave their solid mount
and span the earth, those few to count.

Who survives this (unreadable) and then
begin the human race again.
But not on land already there,
but on ocean beds, stark, dry and bare.

Not every soul on earth will die,
as the dragon's tail goes sweeping by,
not every land on earth will sink,
but these will wallow in stench and stink,
of rotting bodies of beast and man,
of vegetation crisped on land.

But the land that rises from the sea
will be dry and clean and soft and free.
Of mankinds dirt and therefore be,
the source of man's new dynasty.
and those that live will ever fear
the dragon's tail for many year
but time erases memory
You think it strange. but it will be.

And before the race is built anew,
a silver serpent comes to view
and spew out men of like unknown
to mingle with the earth now grown
cold from its heat and these men can
enlighten the minds of future man
to intermingle and show them how
to live and love and thus endow.
the children with the second sight.
a natural thing so that they might
grow graceful, humble and when they do
the golden age will start anew.

The dragon's tail is but a sign
for mankind's fall and man's decline.
and before this prophecy is done
I shall be burned at the stake, at l
My body cinged and my soul set free
You think I utter blastphemy
your wrong. These things have come to me
this prophecy will come to be.

I think its a good thing for folks to meditate, as long as they don't do any of
the other whacky stuff the TMO wants 'em to do, or if they choose another
technique than TM. It still makes me laugh when I see David Lynch as poster

his films and also knowing that neither MUM nor any other TMO facility in the
world will ever officially sanction or host a screening of Eraserhead, Twin

And he still smokes after 40+ years of TM. But I honor him for the good he’s
doing. These people are obviously benefitting profoundly.

This sutra is the preparatory means to recognize the utter difference between

For Shankara, the hridaya is not only the meeting place of the channels and

[FairfieldLife] Deer hunting in FF

2012-11-11 Thread Rick Archer
At this Tuesday night's City Council meeting (7pm) the issue of deer hunting
with bow and arrow within city limits will be discussed. Please attend to
express your opposition. If you're not educated about the topic and you
learn the details, you will want to oppose it. In towns where this is
allowed, it's not uncommon to see terrified deer running around with arrows
in them, dying a slow painful death. Please forward to FF friends.

[FairfieldLife] From Francis Thicke: Why he's supporting President Obama.

2012-11-06 Thread Rick Archer
Some of you may remember that I took a lot of heat this summer for being a
Democrat who went to the Republican Caucus to caucus for Ron Paul. I did so
because I thought it important for Ron Paul's voice for peace to be heard.
I was subsequently disappointed to see Ron Paul's voice ignored by the media
and suppressed by the GOP. Even more outrageous was how the GOP made
last-minute convention rule changes to reject Ron Paul delegates and block
Ron Paul from speaking in prime time.

Many Ron Paul supporters are considering voting for a third-party candidate
for president. However, I urge them to consider the potential consequence
of that. Iowa polls show the race here to be very close, and a few votes
could help determine the election outcome. A vote for a third-party
candidate in this election could be become a default vote for the party that
ran over Ron Paul and his supporters.

If you think it makes no difference whether Obama or Romney is elected
tomorrow, consider that the next president will likely make Supreme Court
appointments that could determine the outcome of our highest court's rulings
for many years to come; consider that President Obama has gotten us out of
the war in Iraq and is on course to get us out of Afghanistan, whereas
Romney wants to increase military spending and is bellicose towards Iran;
consider that President Obama is strong on protecting the rights of
minorities and hastening the transition from fossil fuels to renewable
energy. There are many more important differences between the candidates
for president that could be listed.

I urge you to vote for President Obama.

Thank you for your consideration.

Francis Thicke

[FairfieldLife] Samavartaka Fire

2012-11-01 Thread Rick Archer
From a friend:

  _

Re Samavartaka Fire, below: I haven't had any confirmation of the comment
attributed to Maharishi, and I don't have any further information on who the
Jyotishis are that have predicted it to come in Feb. 2013. From what I have
seen on the internet, it seems that the predictions of a phase transition
fall sometime during the next 2 years.

What is encouraging is the actual quote that 2 people sent me from one of
the Puranas that predicts the 10,000 year Age of Enlightenment to begin
5,000 years into Kali Yuga, which is where we are now. The Sanskrit
transliteration and the English translation of the 10 verses are below the
original email:

  _

THE SAMAVARTAKA FIRE

From the Brahma Vaivarta Purana

Krishna said to Ganga (Gangamata, the Ganges personified as a goddess).
Five thousand years from this date, within the span of Kali Yuga, there
will be respite from this terrible age. There will be a golden age of 10,000
years.

Jyotishis have calculated that it will come on February 2013 and call it the
Samavartaka Fire, a solar cleansing of the earth. Both the Mayan Calendar
and the Samavartaka Fire predictions were done at least 5,000 years ago, but
there is some dispute about the accuracy of the Mayan calendar end-date.
These predictions were done on opposite sides of the earth at the same time.
The time in between ages is called Pralaya where there is often a time of
strife. Someone on Purusha asked Maharishi about the Mayan calendar
end-date, and he said, It's a little off.

  _

The following are ten verses from the Brahma-vaivarta Purana that were
spoken by Lord Krishna to Mother Ganga just before the beginning of Kali
yuga (the age of quarrel and strife). Kali yuga began approximately five
thousand years ago, and it has a duration of 432,000 years, leaving us with
427,000 till the end of the present age. [For a description of Kali yuga,
please read the related article Predictions for the age of Kali.] Within
this 432,000 year period, there is a period of 10,000 years that will be a
golden age. That golden age is being described below by Lord Sri Krishna.
This text is taken from the Brahma-vaivarta Purana.

[FairfieldLife] Fairfield Driving Warnings

2012-10-23 Thread Rick Archer
2 important things to be aware of at this time:

* Deer mating season is starting. I drove out of Jeff Co Park Tues night. 3
deer crossing Libertyville Rd. Took a left turn

on Key Blvd - 100' 2 more deer xing; 200' feet further 2 more deer xing.
They are constantly on the move over next 6-8

weeks. Be extra careful driving at night!!

* New Law Increases Penalties for School Bus violation. First time violation
= a fine of $250-$675 + 30 suspension of driver's

license. Everyone knows you have to stop behind a parked bus with lights
flashing and Stop arm out. Most people also know that

you have to stop when meeting a school bus from the front on a 2 lane road.
What you may not know, and many people are finding

out the hard way is that if you are driving in the opposite direction from
which the bus is driving, on Burlington/#34, you have to

STOP when the lights are flashing/Stop arm is out EVEN THOUGH THERE IS
TURNING LANE separating you from the other

direction lane.

[FairfieldLife] Deer hunting in Fairfield?

2012-10-22 Thread Rick Archer
Dear Friends,

As many of you probably know, the Fairfield City Council is considering
instituting deer hunting within city limits in order to handle the
overpopulation problem. There have been a few accidents, and deer have been
eating residents' gardens. My vegetable garden last year served up some
tasty treats for the deer.

Personally, I am not in favor of this, both for safety and humane reasons.
Hunting would be allowed at certain times in city parks, such as Lamson
Woods. Bow and arrow hunting would be the method used. Although there would
be safety regulations in place, accidents happen. (I get DNR press releases
- I can tell you - accidents happen.) Bow and arrow hunting, too, often
causes a slow and painful death for deer.

Of course we have to ensure that motorists are safe when they drive within
city limits. But there are other valid and humane ways to deal with this
issue rather than resorting to killing off something in the natural world
that gets in our way.

City Council rep Connie Boyer is heading up a committee to look into the
deer overpopulation issue. She is now taking comments from Fairfield
residents. If this issue is of concern to you, I would encourage you to send
her an email so she knows that there are people in Fairfield who have
concerns. Her address is bo...@lisco.com.

Thanks for considering this.

Best regards,
Diane

[FairfieldLife] More recent info on sale of heavenly mountain

http://www.motherdivine.org/ The Mother Divine Program: Blissful Life in
 Freedom, Fullness, and Enlightenment

  http://www.motherdivine.org/email/images/yellow_leftcolumn.jpg

Dearest friends and supporters of the Mother Divine Program,

We'd like to bring you up to date with recent developments regarding
Heavenly Mountain, North Carolina.

As all of you are probably aware, last year we purchased the East Campus
property of Heavenly Mountain (Mother Divine's former home) as a permanent
home for the Mother Divine Program and Maharishi University of Enlightenment
in North America. Since the purchase last May, renovations of the campus
have been in progress, and by and large have been going well.

However, we are writing now to inform you of the very recent decision we
have had to make with respect to these renovations and our property there.

After deep consideration and taking advice from experts as well as wise
leaders of our Movement, we have concluded that we must stop the renovations
on the Heavenly Mountain property and try to sell it. We wanted you to know
that this decision was not made lightly, or without careful thought and a
very complete assessment of our situation.

In the past two months as we started a detailed investigation of all the
suites and common areas in the large building and the dining hall, aided by
a team of expert subcontractors, we began to uncover more and more work that
needed to be done in order for the buildings to meet the basic requirements
for occupancy.

Even though we had performed thorough due diligence on all the buildings
prior to purchase, additional and more extensive damage came to light once
the renovations were in process. At first we thought we would be able to
overcome these challenges, but this month we received a comprehensive
summary report from our project manager and renovations team outlining the
scope of work and related costs necessary to achieve partial occupancy of
the campus. The report indicated a time line of one year or more with costs
exceeding our budget by many millions.

In addition, we considered once again the very high operating costs and
ongoing maintenance of an older facility such as this and the pressure that
would inevitably be put on our future financial requirements. Even though
this was factored into our original fundraising goal, we had not counted on
the renovations taking so long or being so extensive and costly. We feel
that new construction with recent energy saving designs could significantly
lower ongoing operating costs and be more sustainable for us in the future.

There is still a great need and desire to create a permanent and comfortable
home for the Mother Divine Program in North America, a place where we can
all be together, expand our numbers, and welcome ladies from all over the
world to join us for courses and special programs.

The Heavenly Mountain property remains very valuable and for the right
person with plentiful resources could be a great investment. We are all very
optimistic that the sale of this property will yield a nice profit that can
be the seed money for the permanent home for Mother Divine.

We have the sense that Nature is organizing for us in the best possible way
and guiding us in a very positive direction. We have already started to
explore some promising options.

We deeply appreciate your continuing support of the Mother Divine Program,
and look forward to sharing with you our future plans for a new home for
Mother Divine and Maharishi University of Enlightenment that will be
sustainable and ideal in every way.

Jai Guru Dev

With all our love and gratitude,

The Raj Rajeshwaris and members of the Mother Divine Program

I think you hit the nail on the head there. From what I do know of Obama's
past, he's never really had a very stressful job before this one. To jump
into the presidency with hardly any political experience, and moreover never
having had a really difficult or stressful job before, he's probably
destined to get a bit stressed out and overworked. Take his inexperience and

[FairfieldLife] Fairfield Event: A Lost Generation Due to HIV/AIDS

2012-10-09 Thread Rick Archer
  A Lost Generation
Due to HIV/AIDS

Ken and Sheila Ross and Peter and Sue Huggins invite you to attend a
gathering at the Huggins home on Tuesday, October 9th at 7:30 P.M. We feel
honored to introduce you to our friend Howard Winitsky, who has founded a
wonderful charity in Swaziland. He will be showing a video and speaking
about their work there. It is a fascinating and unusual story and an
extremely worthwhile cause that is doing so much good. A real concrete
example of taking to heart Maharishi's dictum, The world is my family.

Ken and Sheila came to know Howard when they were introduced by mutual
friends and they became business partners in a small skin care-related
business. Howard had learned TM but not by a proper teacher, so at our
urging, he got initiated again in Florida by Dr. Stuart Rothenberg. He
loved his meditation. He also had serious back problems and we suggested
that yoga could help and he plunged into the study of yoga and became pain
free. He then became a siddha and is a very devoted member of our world-wide
community. He has invested in Peter's drilling partnerships and they have
become close friends. We want to give him a really warm welcome and help him
with his work as much as possible.

Howard graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in
Education. He became the Captain of the Northwestern Tennis team and was
previously a two-time Florida State Tennis Champion. Also the over forty
tennis champion in Florida. After graduation from Northwestern, Howard found
success working with families and professionals through managing their
insurance and estate planning needs. After retiring, at age 50, Howard made
the unusual choice to join the Peace Corp and go wherever they sent him. He
was leaving his cushy life in Florida with a house on the beach, yoga
classes, fine restaurants, you know the drill, and offering himself to the
less fortunate of the world.

After two years waiting to receive acceptance, he found himself in rural
Swaziland living in a leaky hut with a tin roof with rats scampering accross
it through the night and learning the Swati language in a crash course that
then allowed him to go out and educate the populace about HIV. He served
with the United States Peace Corps as a Community Health volunteer from June
2010 in Swaziland. After his time in the Peace Corps he came to realize that
he wanted to pursue his own vision of how to help the children of this
country and he resigned his position in order to do this. Howard has
remained in Swaziland to run the operations and management of New Day for
Children Foundation. Howard is married to a beautiful Swaziland citizen who
is equally passionate about this mission to save and educate the orphans
that have been created by the scourge of HIV which hit Swaziland very hard.
He has three children and grandchildren from his previous marriage.

Probably most of you know little about this country. Here is a brief profile
from the BBC:

The kingdom of Swaziland is one of the world's last remaining absolute
monarchies.

It is also unusual in that it is mainly a Christian country, making up 82% of
the population.

It's land mass is 120 miles by 81 miles and the population is 1.2 million.
Seventy-five percent of the population are subsistence farmers and earn
about $1.25 per day.

Its king rules by decree over his million subjects, most of whom live in the
countryside and follow traditional ways of life.

The power of the throne, however, has not gone unchallenged.

King Mswati III, on the throne since 1986, since age 18, is upholding the
tradition of his father, King Sobhuza II, who reigned for almost 61 years
and had scores of wives. The current monarch has thirteen wives who live in
high style.

King Sobhuza scrapped the constitution in 1973 and banned political parties.

RE: [FairfieldLife] Re: Ahh, I should probably leave well enough alone...

2012-10-01 Thread Rick Archer
Maharishi reportedly once commented that “Sthapatya Veda is entertainment for
the wealthy”. Also, when he first came out with it he told people living on
non-SV houses to vacate them as if they were on fire.

Of course, we know that there have been plenty of divorces, bankruptcies,
deaths by cancer, etc., in SV houses.

Richard, you know damn good and well the Movement deliberately tells people if
they don't have a Maharishi Sthapatya veda home and office, they will have
problems, trusting the listeners will always obey the Pay no attention to the
man behind the curtain mantra - meaning they will simply believe what they are
told in the moment and not practice critical thinking to see if what they are
being told matches what they have been told.

In this case, we WERE told TM makes you stronger and healthier, more able to be
effective in the world, now TMO wants everyone to believe they will have ill
health, poverty and on going problems if they don't live and work in a
Maharishi Sthapatya veda home/office.

They say it point blank.

I don't have to have been in the Dome to have good sense and practice common
sense thinking. Evidently you have not been paying attention yourself as you
have not picked up on the fact that I spent 2 years in the Maharishi Patanjali
Golden Dome of Pure Knowledge when I was on staff at then MIU.

Since you require my bona fides, I was first in the Men's Dome on my flying
bloc way back a long time ago, then on the 10 day extension I took after the
Taste of Utopia course in winter of '83-'84, during the Taste of Utopia I was
one of a few men who went to the Ladies Dome after the Men's Dome was full when
Maharishi was speaking and we were TOLD to go to the Ladies DOme to watch M on
closed circuit tv - after about 20 minutes of Ladies Dome Bliss, they came and
kicked all men out so we wouldn't create any impurities there.

Then the 2 year stint on staff. I also have some friends who were stupid enough
to build a mountain cabin according to sthpatya veda (used the Movement experts
to determine the vastu and so on) outside of Asheville NC. The orientation of
the house was such that they had to build half of the house over the air on
stilts (in essence) that meant in the very cold wintertimes, the P-traps in the
plumbing always froze and there was no way to flush or use the sinks or take a
shower until they thawed.

Sthapatya veda may be nice but the way it is promoted by the Movement is
dishonest, unprincipled and done totally to create and maintain a stream of
income for King Tony - after all he does have those young-uns to take care of.

mjackson74:
...of the various hooks the Movement has used to
receive attention, money and psychological adherence
from meditators, I find sthapatya veda to be the
most egregious and unnecessary of all...

You mean more egregious than muttering magic spells?

Well, this is assuming that you've actually been
inside a vastu home or temple. It hasn't been
established that you've been within a thousand miles
of a Golden Dome of Pure Knowledge, let alone gone
to India to visit a Buddhist stupa or pagoda.

Vastu is just like like setting up a 'hearth' in your
home, probably by your wife or mate, if you have one,
otherwise, if you're single, your place may look like
a pig sty or barn yard. LoL!

The first use of vastu probably was the use of fire,
which at first was not for warmth nor for cooking food,
but as a fetish in order to impress the neighbors.

An essential part of any Vastu Living Home is a 'Zone
of Tranquility'. According to MMY, the Hindu home
should be a temple or 'peace pagoda', and it should
have a Zone of Tranquility, that is, a puja room or
a prayer room for meditation.

A Zone of Tranquility is a place where one can sit
down and meditate on your Ista Devata using your bija
mantra and a sri yantra.

Pay attention! The Zone of Tranquility should not be
confused with the 'Brahmansthana', which is where the
Ista Devata is to be sitting.

Vastu is just simple placement, quimancy, and commodity
management. Everyone on the planet practices vastu to
a certain extent!

Subject: [FairfieldLife] Fairfield smart meters

I received a letter from Fairfield Waterworks informing me that I had a
smart meter in my home. This was news to me. I knew a new meter had been
installed but I thought that was at least 12 years ago. They say they
started installing them in 2002, but I suspect it was before that. Anyway,
they are now removing these meters free of charge for anyone who requests
it. But I have suffered no ill effects from this meter. Nothing at all, even
though it is in the basement in a location almost directly below my bedroom.
So I may just leave it here. I'd be interested in any other local
perspectives on this matter, which has caused such a furor in Fairfield.

Everything has an effect. Just a matter of degree. Half the world may end up
with brain tumors 20 years from now, due to cell phones. The influence
contributing to that wouldn't necessarily be noticeable.

Bill,

You do know that Obama would still be an American citizen wherever he was
born because his mother was and American citizen. It doesn't matter where he
was born. No one has ever doubted HER American citizenship. Think about it.
An American tourist drops a baby in Paris during vacation. What nationality
is the baby?

So this whole where Obama was born nonsense is based on a faulty premise to
begin with: that it would matter where an American citizen has her baby.

Yes, but isn't there a provision in the Constitution or somewhere that a
President has to be born in the US or one of its territories, not just born
of an American parent? McCain was born in Panama, but that was a territory
at the time, so he qualified.

The term in the Constitution is Natural Born Citizen

I couldn't find any examples for it to be taken as physically on our dirt
only. Maybe someone else has one.

Wikipedia: Status as a natural-born citizen of the United States is one of
the eligibility requirements established in the United States Constitution
for election to the office of President or Vice President. This requirement
was intended to protect the nation from foreign influence.

The Constitution does not define the phrase natural-born citizen, and
various opinions have been offered over time regarding its precise meaning.
A 2011 Congressional Research Service report stated

The weight of legal and historical authority indicates that the term
natural born citizen would mean a person who is entitled to U.S.
citizenship by birth or at birth, either by being born in the United
States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to alien parents; by
being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents; or by being born in other
situations meeting legal requirements for U.S. citizenship at birth. Such
term, however, would not include a person who was not a U.S. citizen by
birth or at birth, and who was thus born an alien required to go through
the legal process of naturalization to become a U.S. citizen.[1]

So then I don't understand the controversy, as Obama's mother was
undisputedly an American citizen throughout her life. Seems like it's just a
thing that idiots use to keep themselves worked into a racist, xenophobic
frenzy.

[FairfieldLife] Gary Greenfield's eperience of teaching Iraq vet

2012-09-04 Thread Rick Archer

Date: Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 1:14 PM

Report of Remarkable Experience of Military Veteran Learning TM

Before attending Governor Recertification this past summer, Naomi and I were
able to give intro/prep lecture presentations at two different veterans
centers. Both were well received, and I went to Fairfield knowing we had
veterans who wanted instruction in TM when we returned…and that most of them
would need financial assistance to l

earn.

It was the personal interview with the last man, C.R., at the second lecture,
that really sparked my passion for this effort. When I saw that there was no
address filled in on his personal interview form, I diplomatically suggested he
must have overlooked this line.

He barely looked up at me when he answered that he didn’t have an address. He
had not worked in quite some time because he could not handle pressure, and he
kept having meltdowns, getting into arguments, and even violent confrontations.
And that stress had carried over into his home life, where he was constantly
arguing with his wife when he wasn’t hiding from the world, shut up in his
room. So he and his wife had separated, and he was now living in a tent…in the
Everglades.

I looked at this man and my heart just broke.

His face was a mask of sorrow and despair, and he looked utterly shut down; his
chest barely moved when he breathed. He looked as if he had lost all hope and I
wanted to give him a reason to be patient, to hang in there, until I could
secure the course tuition for him to be instructed. So when he asked me if I
thought TM could really help him, I told him I was confident it would.

Working with the David Lynch Foundation, I was able to secure scholarship money
for C.R. and another vet to learn upon our return from Fairfield. When we
called these men to tell them the good news, they were overjoyed and very
grateful. So we set the date for their course of instruction.

When C.R. arrived for his instruction he looked very worried and tense. We
talked only briefly, and he again expressed hope that this would work. I looked
at him at told him that he would now be starting a new chapter in his life, and
began his instruction.

He had a good, relaxing experience, barely wanted to open his eyes when his
time of meditation was up. I completed his initiation and gave him his going
home instructions.

The next day, as I was preparing the lecture hall for the arrival of our
students, the door opened, and in walked C.R.…and he was smiling, beaming
really. I asked him about it, and he said, “Last night I slept through the
night…for the first time in 21 years.” That immediately got my attention.

When we discussed experiences, he said he was now back in his home, and with a
big smile, that his wife had said it was different when he kissed her. When I
replied that we would have to do more research on that, he laughed, and said he
had a question: “For months, I have been seeing two psychiatrists, two social
workers, a psychologist, just completed an anger management course, an been
taking handfuls of medications. And in one day of doing TM I have gotten more
relief than all of those other things combined. Is this normal?”

I answered that dramatic results are often reported, and we’ll see how it goes
day by day.

The second day of class he mentions that he called six friends. When I ask if
that is typical for him, he tells the class that he has not called anybody for
months and months. He basically was staying out of sight in his room. But he
wanted to reconnect with people, so he made some calls. Everyone in the class
recognizes how significant this change is for this man — he is now reaching out
to re-establish relationships. Earlier that day, his wife had accompanied him
to see one of his social workers, crying tears of gratitude for the change in
her husband. (This gets the attention of the social worker, who decides she
also must learn TM.) Again, his experiences on his form are very positive. He
clearly is practicing correctly and is noticing dramatic chagnes.

The third day of class, he walks in smiling again, and proceeds to give us a
glowing report. He tells everyone, since he learned TM he has been sleeping
through the night, and he has had no nightmares. Many people have commented on
the change in him — his wife, a social worker, and his pastor. At church, he
was hugging people. He reclines comfortably in his seat: “I have my mojo, my
life back again. Every veteran with PTSD should be able to learn this. My wife
an I want to invite you over for dinner, and I want to become a teacher of this
meditation.”

I am so moved by the transformation in this man, I can barely speak. I manage
to say, “We’re all very happy for you. As teachers, this is why we teach.”

Two-and-a-half weeks later, he comes to have his meditation checked. His
experience is very good, easy, and effortless. Very gratifying also is his
understanding of the practice. He

Thanks Robin. I must say that after 44 years of regular meditation, I’ve gone
through all sorts of phases, but never disillusionment. With MMY and the TMO
maybe, but not with my experience. Still an enjoyable twice daily interlude,
with benefits still accruing.

Dear Rick,

Whatever are the long-term effects of TM, that first experience of
transcending, why it is not like anything that has ever existed--not in my
lifetime. We become attached to EXPERIENCE after this, and when the experience
becomes less beautiful and dramatic, and the benefits seem to be receding, then
we become disillusioned. [And there can even be serious negative
side-effects--especially in rounding.] But Transcendental Meditation has the
potential--more than anything else available in the world--to bring about an
instantaneous and miraculously innocent experience of GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE
OTHER THAN WHERE ONE HAS BEEN ALL OF ONE'S LIFE.

TM has this absolute value and effect: It takes one out of the physical and
mental context one is in--and just this very mechanical result: escape from the
the experience one has been embedded in as long as one can remember-this is a
glimpse of what is possible that is a presentiment of 'heaven'.

Even if it has never happened in the life of a single initiator. Heaven inside
self*.

There are all kinds of problems that set in after awhile, but the truth of the
testimony here cannot be doubted. And this experience--every one of us
initiators has had something amazing happen inside of us because of TM and
Maharishi,--although it is not the final story, it is a reality which is part
of all of us. And it *changed* us.

What is said in this letter must be incorporated into any retrospective view of
TM and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

You are to be commended, Rick, for making this truth known to us once again.

Robin

*I have known personally the simulated truth of this

“Humanity Ascending: Our Story”

featuring futurist and visionary Barbara Marx Hubbard

(run time: 37 minutes)

Our storyteller, Barbara Marx Hubbard, provides the unique perspective of

eyes the history is an unfoldment of a fourteen billion year journey of
transformation that is now pressing us forward to give birth to a new,
never-before-seen Universal Humanity capable of co-evolving with nature and
co-creating with Spirit. This compelling vision of hope sees us at an
evolutionary edge where the old world is dying and the new world is being
born.

Barbara’s Agents of Conscious Evolution, Noel Marshall and Bob Warner,

husband and wife, are touring the country in their RV-home to share this

If I were a woman who had a tendency to get raped and pregnant, I might be able
to agree. If I were a woman who lost her job and couldn't find another or my
husband had lost his and couldn't find another, I would vote a straight
Republican ticket and worry about a *fringe* group later.

Gee, that would make sense, since we were losing about 800,000 jobs a month
towards the end of the Bush administration, and have now had something like 27
consecutive months of job growth.

Can anyone tell me the definition of the group of men called the 108's?

I am sure this post will elicit the very best of waggish comments but I am
curious to know. I started TM at a time when I think they were beginning to
fade sort so I never really knew what they were about.

It wasn't just men. It was men and women who were financially
self-sufficient. They paid a certain amount per month to be a 108, in
addition to all their expenses. For that, they got a fair amount of quality
time with Maharishi.

Now that is something I didn't know - that women were 108's also. Do you
know why they were called 108's and do you reckon there were actually 108 of
them?

108 is considered an auspicious number in the Vedic tradition. There weren't
108 of them. I don't know how many.

Great Britain, with 1/3 the US population and very few guns, had about 34
